The pump - let me get this straight

Just a quick question.

The soul purpose of the pump is to increase blood flow in your muscles, which in return will leave you with a great "environment" for the nutrients that are being transported by the blood? So the bigger the pump, the better blood flow you'll have, and the more nutrients you can transport to your screaming muscles directly after a workout - and THAT is the reason why people say it's so important to feed your muscles with nutrients immediately after workout?

So if you wait for, let's say one hour before eating something or drinking a post-workout drink, recovery will be worse then if you had eaten the same food or got your post-workout drink immediately after your workout, as your pump will be almost gone after 1 hour post workout?

I've NEVER seen anyone actually give a sound reason for why pump is nessecary.

Really curious about this one.

Thanks in advance!

If you are going for sarcoplasmic hypertrophy via higher volume and higher reps than powerlifting, then pump is inevitable. So most bodybuilders are therefore going to get great pumps in the gym.

Someone lifting heavier, with lower sets and reps - may not get as great of a pump and may not even notice much of one at all, depending on various factors and the person themselves. This may provide more of a myofibrillar hypertrohpy.

i was just reading DINOSAUR TRAINING and it had some good stuff on different techniques of training with heavy weights and body building. It went into high rep pump training.Good book.

Basically just like MUDGE said the pump isnt necessary to building muscle its more of a technique.
