Thickening Bis...

The Pitbull is within...
OK. I have usually stuck to preacher barbell and hammers.
I really need to mix things up and make my bis a bit thicker. Any particular exercises for doing this??
I have shape just need the size now.

Barbell curls with varying grip widths works wonders. Farther apart for inner bi, medium for overall, and closer for peak.

preachers are not a good excercise for mass.. try standing barbell and dumbell. Alot of it's genetics too. btw nice avatar

Yeah, I was always told opposite about preachers.
Anyhow I will try the standing varying grip. And I know I am fighting tough genetics.

You cant make a fiber grow in only one direction. Put 3 or 4 inches on your arms, they'll be thicker.

My biceps are my strong point, i usually do 4 sets of 6-8 on the preach for short head, 4 sets of bent over dumbell curls , then i do standing barbell curls on the wide grip of curl bar to get my long head. I think that preacher curls add more mass than any other curl for the fact that its pure short head, and thats what 80% of your bicep muscle is.

How many calories are you taking in?? Standing bb, hammers and preachers have worked great for me. ALso throw in some reverse grip curls for forearms if ya want.

I hope youre already doing SQUATS, DEADLIFTS, and Bench.!!??!!
I used to hammer my arms and neglect the major movements. Well, now I do the major movements and neglect the small stuff(curls, skulls, etc) I'm bigger now then I ever was. :D If youre not doing squats, dl's and bench that IS were it is at.

Well I only meant to show him how to work his biceps from a few angles. The more angles you lift from then you hit moire fibers.

don't sleep on preacher curls. i didnt really see gains in my biceps till i incorperated preacher curls in my workout. i save them for the end, when i really wanna "hammer" away at them before leaving.

preachers are responsible for your lower part of your bicep. (at the elbow)
...and peak.

lets just say you need them. :startrek:

no offense but i think your atavar is your strong point. :D

Too many people focus on the isolations when trying to get their biceps to grow and forget that you can move a ton more weight with the huge compounds. As was said - rows, deads, even chins, they all allow you to load way more weight onto your biceps than curls can. Don't get me wrong, I think preacher curls, incline curls, etc are good because of the stretch, but don't rely on them for your major bicep growth.

Also, don't forget your triceps.

You will most likely have to put on overall body mass to increase your bi's. Your bi's are not the only things that will grow. For me, it usually seems to take about 10lbs of body weight for my arms to grow 1 inch. Thats ALOT of quality foods, alot of heavy lifting(squats, deads, bench) and I also try and get 8hrs of rest a night. Focus more on heavy compound movements, if you have any energy left over AFTER your heavy compound movements then hit your bi's w/some curls or preacher curls or whatever, get your diet in check, drink a bunch of milk, don't over train, rest. You'll grow.
