Hi girls, I am really confused right now. I usually work out at 6:30 p.m, I get home at about 8:30....should I take my whey, then dinner, then Casein before bed? Isn't it too much?

I am not a girl, but hopefully a man's advice is still welcome.

If the whey, dinner and casein all fall within your daily calorie allowance then your not eating too much but you may be eating too much at once which can be uncomfortable and cause the stomach to expand and thicken the waist.

I was in that situation about 2 months ago. What I did was to move some calories up into the day and then after the gym have a whey protein shake with a nightly snack of fibrous veggies(broccoli) and cottage cheese. Cottage cheese is slow release protein. May even be casien but, I am not sure on that one. Could also do all natural peanut butter which is slow release protein instead of the cottage cheese.

I am sure 3J will come along soon and give you a much more educated response, but in the meantime I hope this helps.

Your advice is very welcome, thank you!
I think I will try that....won't my muscles miss my chicken and potatoes after workout?

It depends on your metabolism and how fast your body builds muscle! Also on your current body fat levels and if you want to cut, keep it, or is ok to add some fat. No one will know the answer, you have to see how your body responds to diet changes.
Blanket advice on food never works really; it must be suited to one's body. I only eat if I'm hungry (but I'm not trying to extremely bulk up in muscle size, I mostly train for strength and some size) and do take protein + carb drink after workout, but nothing when going to bed. I do eat dinner like normal and I don't put on body fat, but that's how I am naturally, no tendency to store fat.

Old wisdom says to never get full when you eat... and if you eat that much that you wake up with feeling of some food in your stomach or not hungry at all you probably ate too much tonight. I'm a firm believer in allowing yourself to be hungry and feel it before you eat anything, but that's for general health and longevity and looking young, not as contest preparation strategy.

It's fine to do that. Just regulate your calories when doing it. It's only too much if your portions are too much. Cut down the portions to what you prefer.
