Using boards for bench..why and how?

along with working on his technique .keep the shoulders tucked down and in ,dont let the elbows fly out at the bottom and explode with those lats .

Yup, my elbows pop out when the weight gets heavy. I know it's a terrible habit, but it is hard to break, any advice?
