What A Chore!!

pickle bunny

The Ring Bearer
I have lifted off and on for 40 years. BB'd for 8. Through out the years I have been big, medium, small and big again. (225 is big for my frame) Got sick lost 3 years and 22 lbs of hard earned muscle...got it all back.
I can tell you with all certinty, body building is a chore.
Carrying all that mass is a work load. Yeah it looks cool and feels cool but it comes at a price. You sleep different, don't fit into airline seats, have to eat 5-6 times per day.
I am tired of being a prisoner to food.
I drifted down to 210 and my body seems to like it there.
I think I am gonna back off and enjoy more of my life. Eat more of what I want, look in the mirror less, do 3-4 sets instead
of 4-7, workout 3-4 times per week instead of 5 and just chill down a bit.

Yeah....I think that I am gonna enjoy this new life style.
Can someone pass me the remote...I wanna see whats on TV

There's definitely more to life than BB, I don't think there's anything wrong with taking it slower and enjoying life more.

I am not a bodybuilder, but Mr P has been doing this for almost 20 years, so I can understand what you mean by being a prisoner to food. Lots of preparation to make the meals for work, etc, etc.
Lots of sacrifices, hard work, but no one said it would be easy...right ?

There's got to be balance to everything in life, I love excercising, and living a healthy lifestyle, but if I had to choose between family & BB, I would pick family over anything.

On the other hand, I think if your doing what you love BB or what ever it is, you'll be a happier person, better husband/wife, father/mother.

p.s (I'll tell you what's on tv ........... Dancing with the stars... starring "Wendy Williams ") :toilet:

Haha yeah tv sucks except for two shows that I don't even get. Eastbound and Down and Sparticus. I <3 netflix. And yeah man i feel ya on that one. I wish I could just sit around all day play guitar and video games but since I started this shit. I love my life SO MUCH more. but yeah I hope one day when I'm jacked like you guys it won't be this hard to maintain it. Will it?

Don't get me wrong, I am still training harder than 98 % of the young bucks in our gym. I love hard training. Love to sweat. Love to super set, go heavy, negatives, etc.. I am worn out from eating on schedule, pushing for the extra food and protien etc. I did lighten up just slightly on extra sets but I still get muscle cramps once or twice a week from failure.
Keeping mass on is very difficult. Especially as you get older and especially with diabetes. Diabetes wants to reduce muscle mass. So that makes it a bit different. The meds side effects are it trys to put on extra body fat so I actually train with more intensity to break even with where I used to be. Makes it more difficult to stay at baseline.
My body would love to drift to 205. I am forcing it to stay at 210. I was at 220 a few weeks ago. Diabetes is kickin up again. Fucker

I still work hard at the orphanage and med clinic in Haiti--long hard days.
I am not gettin soft, just weary of the diet and regimans of keeping mass on your frame.

There is a point where the balance of investment vs reward starts to shift.

Now pass the remote so I can watch hawaii 5'O and motocross.
That is how us geezers relax.

I totally agree. THe quest for size is a young mans game. I got too big for my frame. I would be much happier 40 pounds smaller. I'd love to have the flexability I had back.

I am with you. I still have 20-30 more years left in me but now its hard to tie shoes because of tight hamstrings and lower back. What good is looking like a warrior if you can't bend over to pick up your spear and shield.

My priorities are shifting. RJ has a good point about doing the mud runs. I would like to get back to the stuff that really brought me enjoyment--white water kayaking , motocross, roller blading riding mountain bike. I will not be able to do it with this flexability and cardio.

DPR, We gotta turn this thing around.

Where are you at in weight now?
