Why Im considering Test, Insights?

Hello and thanks for viewing my post, completely new to the site as you can see. A little about me. Im 30, 147lbs, 5'11" I am active, and my work is physically and mentally demanding, I eat well for the most part. I do love pie. mmmmmm.. warm pie.... Im not looking to get built but to just feel good. I ache constantly in my joints, Im loosing my hair, my critical thinking is gone, I am pissed constantly and its because Im anxious, my dick just isn't that hard anymore cept occasionally, I still desire very much. I have Ulcerative colitis and its very difficult to keep my appetite and weight up, its a wasting disease. I occasionally require prednisone in low tapering doses, but its really very mild so far. I don't hardly drink, I smoke marijuana relatively often.

So, Im a pretty miserable guy. This has been ongoing for most of my adult life. 2.5 years ago I decided to check my test levels as it was suggested by a buddy. Total Test 770 free 137.7, I moved on to other ideas as to why I felt like crap. Well time went on bout a year and a half and I never did feel better so I asked the doc to check my levels again. Total test level 339 No free taken. So I asks the Doc "isn't that pretty low?" No she says to me. No, its within the range. by 40 points. While this bothered me I didn't think I knew more than the doc and I wasn't educated in the proper levels by a great resource like Ology. Life goes on and its complete dog S#!t. So recently my coworker shared with me that he started T cause of some production issues and how it change everything for him, told me to go get another look at my levels. I go. Total T 607, No free, Estrogen 16.2, PSA .3. Not great they say but not qualifying. I called back and requested another test and faxed them copies of the other two, free of charge they are checking my T again next Monday. So, Im small, hurt all over, have every symptom of low T, I have very little hair and am loosing my head hair but I cant get any POS docs to acknowledge the need for something that can help me get to a healthy weight and strength and put the "wasting" in check. And besides that my test is rollercoasting and so am I. If I don't qualify Im considering just doing it myself. Before I do Id like to know what your thoughts are and hope to have a few questions answered.

Why is my Test jumping so crazy? Am I shutting down from health issues? Normal?
Will the Test help improve my appetite, weight and general well being?
Is my estrogen to low? and could that be the cause of this state Im in?
If I do choose to self medicate in your opinions would this be a lifetime commitment?

Heres a sum up

2.5 years ago Test 770 free 137.7
1 year ago Test 339
last week Test 607 Estrogen 16
All test samples taken in the AM

Advice? Thanks again.

I have lost faith in our medical community. I treat myself more successfully with MJ than all their million dollar meds together.

I know you don't want to hear this, but a Total Testosterone of 600 is a good number. That is about right where you should be for your age. You do not have hypogonadism and do not need to go on TRT. I can't tell you why your numbers are bouncing around, but lifestyle changes do have an effect. Perhaps you are eating or sleeping better. Perhaps less stress in your life.

Have you checked your thyroid out? Have you done a sleep study? Issues with both of these can often cause symptoms that are similar to low T. Have your doctors had any theories? Have you checked cortisol? Vitamin D?

If you could post all your blood work we could look at it and maybe someone will spot something. Medical history would be very helpful as well.

Sorry... I know this isn't the answer you are looking for. But if I had Natty T of 600 there is no way I would be on TRT. Why go on TRT just to get yourself back to TT of about 600 - which is where many doctors will target.

Mega, thx for the response. I want to hear the opinions and views of experienced members, so thanks very much for the truthful answer. The only lifestyle changes Ive had is Ive become a dad about 18 months ago. My thyroid does switch around a lot, Ive had it at 1 and 4 on a scale of 1-4. :) No sleep study, doctors feel the variation is perfectly normal and while im borderline in size in terms of health they don't see my weight as an issue. I do. I feel like Im 50. Cortisol levels do vari quite a bit with the UC flares. Vitamins haven't been checked. Ill dig up a Complete Metabolic Panel from a few months ago and post, but I gotta run to work so it will be later tonight. And again Mega, thx bro. Im not entirely unhappy with my levels Im just kinda desperate for a change in my body so I can keep up with my boy and have a more fulfilling healthy life. And of course my brain ability has taken a big dive. I used to be a helo instructor until my health interfered and Ive always been pretty clear thinking and smart. guess it could be the MJ catching up to me. Anyway, Ill post later tonight. Great info.

Get a sleep study done. You would be amazed by what a toll sleep apnea can take on you. And make sure you are treating your thyroid because it affects your testosterone levels.

How much exercise are you getting these days? And how is your diet? Fix them if they are not up to par.

Ill mention the sleep study to my Dr. Thx. I have an unusual work schedule and I don't really sleep well. When I sleep I feel the same. Bad dreams and a real negative attitude and out look. I wake miserable and tired. As for food, I have to eat well. My condition is dependent largely on what I eat but an appetite for me can be pretty difficult but the MJ helps. I am very active, I repair ACs at a large complex in Phoenix AZ. It is very physically demanding. As for an actual work out, pretty limited. 20 pushups, sit ups and 10 pullups. I know its not enough so Ive resolved to go to the gym 3 times a week. Ive never been before but a buddy is coming along to coach. Any particular workouts you recommend? I go tomorrow at 9. Below is my labs from dec 13. The T3 was called into me and I don't remember the level but they said it was ok.

Edit. Pics to small.

I've spent pretty much my whole life looking for answers to why I'm always without energy and going through life in a fog. I've been tested for everything- Chronic fatigue, lyme disease, thyroid issues, sleep apnea- you name it, they've tested for it. I stumbled on this forum because last year, at the age of 49, they finally tested for testosterone levels- and the came back low to low normal. Subsequent tests showed some improvement, but I'm low normal. I'm back again because my latest test came back low (280 with 300-900 being normal range). I'll be going in for followup tests soon.

One place I went to in my search for help did lead to a noticeable improvement, and it has to do with the thing no one talks about- porn. You might want to check this out. Who knows, it might be what's ailing you.

Confirm the TT lab result with a follow up test. Check LH, FSH, Prolactin and estradiol. If you still have low T you should probably get on TRT. You should be feeling like a new man in 3-8 weeks if you choose injections.

Strange how your TT number changes so much. Are you confident the lab you use is capable?

how old are you? what are your biggest symptoms? your estrogen is a tad low, this can give the same symptoms of lowT. I totally agree though, you need to retest. pred can shut you down, were you taking that when you scored 300?
