workout partners?

Strong Man

Over Train
So these days It seems that workout partners just makes for a lot of talking. I find myself trying to workout alone because all the people I train with just wont shut the fuck up. I take my workouts serious and it seems like most people don't. It seems like people come to the gym to fucking talk and do a set every once in a while. WTF is this? The only day I have to have a workout partner is on bench day because I need a good spotter.

Have you guys had this problem with workout partners?

I've been lucky with my workout partners. The only complaint I've ever had with a few were their level of energy wasn't up to where I liked it or where I was. To be fair though I think I was comparing them to my best friend who was one of my first workout partners (don't workout with him anymore as we live in different cities). His level of energy was great. Man I miss the ish talking. And I'm not talking about yapping all day between sets, I'm talking about "dude are you going to rest all day or can we finish this workout." Gawd I loved it. My favorite was "O that's cool, you're going to use lighter weight for your set, not judging man, I'm just going to go a bit higher, I just want to get a good workout in. No no don't put it back down, it's all you man those are good for warming up, aren't you still warming up?"

Dude you bringing back memories. I miss my old gym. Sadly it closed down and gave way to the bigger cooporate style gyms, then I moved away for my career...*sigh* Honestly if you were to put the Kaname of now back in that gym with some of my old partners I wouldn't be able to survive the warm up. I'm no sluff now of course but to be honest I lack that spark you can't help but get when surrounded by a bunch of silverback co*k swinging gorillas. Man we had so many powerlifters and amateur bodybuilders there. Would joke when we saw someone new as we all knew they likely would stop coming to the gym in about a month or so.

Sorry for the ramble man. I just miss the gym and everyone (the regulars). Man you didn't even have to ask for a spot. Even if you didn't know the person, they would walk over to you when they saw you going for a set that appeared heavy. They would just walk up and be like I got you. THEN even talk ish lol. Dude "is that it, come on man you have more in you, one more, one more...one more!" Mofo it was one more rep 6 reps ago!

Point is, I think I judge everything and everyone by what I use to have. Ok enough rambling from me.

I tend to fly solo for a lot of reasons. The times I work out at, plus the fact that I have to deal with peoples issues all fucking day long and I dont want to deal with any more shit after am done. Theres this thin line O travel, that while I like to help people sometimes people tend to get on my last fucking nerve.

I'm solo too. Talking is for the old people that congregate their to socialize. They just stand around the machines asking one another who came yesterday and where's George at today. Thank god they don't use free weights I'd have to push one the fuck out of my way:) j/k id never do that. I try to get in my zone. Headphones in, leave me alone

I use to work out with a college roommate of mine for 4 years and we pushed each other. If one guy put on an extra 10lbs the alpha male came out and the other had to do the same. Then for a year I was on my own and after about a month I loved it because I got to do my own workout and focus on what I needed to the most. Just recently my older brother started coming with me and he is significantly weaker than me because he is just starting. It's not bad because I still get to run the workouts and it's mutually beneficial since our body-types are identical. But last week I had a buddy from the marines come back for a week and we really pushed each other it seemed, it was a great change of pace to have someone telling me to do 1 more rep and to put on that extra weight, not to mention the occasional slap on the head to get some anger to surface.

It is funny though because everytime I've had a workout partner with me we always seem to see that group of 3-5 chatting away and it is supper frustrating, especially when they are on something you want to be on. Almost as bad as when someone walks in front of the mirror about 3/4 of the way through your set, but thats a whole new subject lol

I guess I lucked out cuz I have a killer partner. He doesn't talk unless its motivational talk. We walk in, change the radio station, crank it up and go to war!

I swear I could have typed this exact same post. TOTALLY brings back some nostalgia for my old bud that used to challenge me EVERY day to "lift that weight because that iron wasn't going to grow legs and lift its damn self". Great post!

Sometimes I wish I had an MFer with me to push me like that. I let Five Finger Death Punch push me tho.

Heh, that's on my workout playlist. I pretty much listen to anything but for working out I need a certain type of music. I remember when Bonecrusher Never Scared, came out. O my gawd lol. Buddy worked at the gym, and would let us throw CDs on. Good times good times.

edit: Now that I think about it theres a guy that I work with and he is into bodybuilding etc etc. We were suppose to start working out together but I put it off (yes I know I'm an idiot). Did workout with him one time prior, and he was listening to some slow R&B love making ish. I was like dude really? How do you stay motivated? Must admit though he is in great shape, just don't know how he rocks that kind of music in the gym.

Same way... My girl is a great spotter but... A) She always fucking bails on me or b) She talks to god damn much!

I've been goin solo lately but when one of my two workout partners comes we always try to one up each other and we'll help as much as possible. Thats's the only talk we do, and once we see the headphones go in we shut the hell up and let each other do our set.

for a spotter i just ask someone fuck having to meet someone there and i dont like to share waits lol every bench partner i have cant compete so i got to strip waits every time i bench... fuck partners

My partners always complain I fucking hate it. I think I'm gonna pass out well you can pass out but when you wake up its still your motha fuckin set (Ct Fletcher)
I go solo now days best workouts are when your half way through a rep and you run out of energy but you know if you give up you are gonna have a shit tonne of weigh coming down on your chest so best keep pushing

after you die half way threw a set i like doing it one or two more times Arnold always said it was that last few reps is what counts nothing els

Lol I was working out yesterday and a dude waved at me and I could tell he wanted to talk, I just did a head nod and kept my headphones in...
The worst is when they wanna start talking to you while you're in the middle of a set, way to fuck with my focus seriously.
