Yeah I would suggest staying away from them in your case. If you need some energy then just stick with some caffeine or B12...might be the other stims/ingredients in there that are making you feel sick.
Besides eating tons of food...I would suggest lifting heavy and keeping the rep range low. No need in doing 15 reps for 4 sets. I would suggest 3-4 sets at 8-10 for each exercise...particularly compound movement lifts.
Coming from a group of exercise physiologists there seems to be a lot of debate on whether smith machine squats are good. Some say it places you into too strict of ROM but I don't really find this as a valid reason not to do them.
