1mg Adex ed!

Hi guys, hope you have the patience to read my story!

About 10 weeks ago I visited an well respected endocrinologist here in the UK.. My goal was to come off of a 2 year stint of self prescribed testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and do so under medical supervision. I'm hoping that now that I'm no longer overtraining, have modified my diet to a high-fat paleo type deal, supplementing Vit D etc, that I may achieve an acceptable level of well-being without testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). If I'm not where I want to be after 1 year, I'll go about testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in the correct way.. with a doctor!

At my first visit with said endo, bloods revealed I had LH and FSH at 0, e2 slightly above range (around 50 in the UK range) and Testosterone was above top end range. My endo put me on 1mg Adex daily, told me to drop Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) and reduce my test dosage from 175mg to 100mg per week. This was all in an effort to de-supress my gonadotrophins. I felt much better actually as my e2 came back through range and Test levels came down to a more reasonable level. Since then I suspect my e2 has crashed.. my mood is pretty flat, libido is not great and I'm suffering occasional headaches that I can't put down to anything else. At my last visit I told him that I would now prefer to wait until May of next year to attempt restart, as this is when I will finish my studies. He advised me to stay on 1mg Adex until the results of further bloods came through.

What I intend to do, at least until I see him next (5 weeks time) is to keep Test at 100mg/w add back in Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) at 250iu 2xweek and back off the Adex to .5 or .25 mg 2xweek. My question is... since I am on a pretty whopping dose of Adex at present, do I need to taper down to .25 2xweek or can I drop straight to that? I'm concerned about estro rebound...

Thanks for reading :)

Get a blood test and see what your levels are at instead of guessing.

1mg of adex daily is more than most guys can tolerate. How are your joints? I had knee pain when OK wad taking too much adex. And I was very fatigued. I just didn't feel good when my Estrogen was too low.

Why did you self-prescribe testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) to begin with?

ya 1mg a day is hardcore. you dont wanna completely kill all estro. just bring it down. i dont think tapering off is needed.

Yea Megatron I have a sharp pain in my right knee while squatting... :-/ the rest of my joints feel ok but I'm definitely 'dry'. My mood is dry too!

I think his rationale was to 'de-estrogenize' my system quite thoroughly and block E at the pituitary in hopes of getting an LH/FSH reading. I have blood results waiting for me when I go to see him, but that's 5 weeks away, and independant blood tests cost a bomb here in the UK.

I self prescribed testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) because I convinced myself I wouldn't get it prescribed. I was seeking a better sense of wellbeing and libido and it certainly gave me that as well as improved cognitive function and memory.

So the feeling is that I'm cool to just back straight off to .25-.5 2xweek just for the next 5 weeks? Any idea how long it may take for estro to saturate up to a healthier level again?

Thanks

Can't you call and get your lab results before your return visit? Seems stupid to wait 5 weeks if they already have the results.

I think half life of arimidex is around 48 hours. When I was taking too much and had to stop I kind of recall feeling back to normal about a week later.

I am not the expert on this, but I don't think you will get an lh/fsh reading ads long as you are taking testosterone. You need to get your HPTA fired up again and that won't happen while taking T. But lets get the people with more expertise in the medical science to chime in here.
