1st cycle for athlete

Hi guys! Here is some info about me I'd appreciate any help.

I play hockey at a fairly high level, and have the opportunity to play pro next season (no drug testing). I plan on going on my first cycle this summer, giving me time to pack on as much weight as I can until then.

I am currently 21 and 165 lbs. with very low body fat. I've been working out heavily for the last 5 years. My problem has always been trouble gaining weight. No matter how hard I supplemented and ate I always found myself stuck. No excuses though I'm continuing to push my diet.

My main problems in my sport, while my strength has always been good, was my body weight. My main goal is to gain the most weight I can by the end of the summer (planning to start cycle at beginning of summer) and maximize strength (both very obvious).

I know that the common suggestion is test for the first cycle, and I understand that. My concern though is my age and if test is a (relatively) safe solution. My original inclination was to try winstrol, until I read what a lot of people had to say. Maintaining gains is also a big thing for me. My end goals are to be at 190-200 lbs.

Something I'd like to add, before hearing any criticism regarding my age and current size, is that it's very close to a necessity for me to make large gains by the end of the summer because of the nature of my sport, and for my career. I am not however willing to jeopardize my health with drugs that are (relatively) unsafe.

I'd really appreciate any advice regarding what would be best for me to take.

Thanks!

It is impossible that you can not gain any more weight. If you start eating 4000-5000 calories/day form now until end of summer, and your lifting is in check you'll make huge gains. You'll make huge gains even if your lifting sucks, but more of it will be fat.

If you want to bulk up, eat big + lift big + rest big. If your set on using steroids, which I don't think are necessary for you to reach your goals, do a test e or c cycle for 12 weeks.

this is just my opinion though...which is quite worthless

well doing steroids is illigal for a reason, and you are jeopardizing your health if you're not properly educated or you're not doing it correctly...first and foremost education is the most important. "Test is best" may be a little cliche but it's really not just a cliche....Test is harmful to the body if not done right, and surely can cause some issues side effect wise. As a almost pro - new - athlete i would advice not doing steroids, especially because of the recent professional athletes that were reprimanded. Protien and diet is another important factor, you need to be eating like 4-5k calories a day..clean lean protein cals....Obviously you need to stay in cardiovascular shape for hockey, but lay low on the cardio if you really wanna gain a lot of weight. If you eat properly and clean enough you won't gain much fat. Another thing is it's going to be difficult to gain that much weight in such a small amount of time. Big goals are big, but don't get crazy....shoot for 185-190 by end of summer, i mean at 190 you'll be a completely different person. Training and Rest are also necessary to gain muscle. Either way, most people are going to tell you to gain some more muscle before you start your first cycle, most people don't listen and go ahead and do it anyways. Test is best, enanthate 500mg a week, twice a week injections, nolvadex or some type of pct is also important.

haha.....as hung said

I appreciate the input guys. Believe me I understand the importance right now of gaining weight through eating and lifting. I wouldn't consider going on a cycle if I was to stay at this weight or even close. I'm pushing hard to stay at 4k calories a day and can only hope I get to where I want to be.

I always find it funny how athletes are reprimanded in public for using steroids, when the reality is almost everyone uses them. Everybody gets to where they are on talent, not the juice. It usually doesn't hurt though lol.

I only plan to work hard. I'm not looking to use steroids as a crutch, although I am very intrigued when the time is right.

if you really have the opportunity to make hockey a career and you're not going to get drug tested, I would say go for it...

500mg/wk Test E/C for 12 weeks with a proper post cycle therapy (pct) is what my suggestion would be

Just as stated by everyone else...Test E or C is highly recommended. Make sure to have Clomid or Nolvadex avail for post cycle therapy (pct). You may already be educated in anabolics, but grab a good book off the net such as Anabolics 2007 (or '08 if it's avail?) or Steroid Bible.

Thanks for that input guys. I'm going to stick to a more rigid diet from now on to start. If I learn to stick to a clean 4k calories a day I'll feel more comfortable trying a cycle in the near future.

well i guess you said they dont drug test in pro hockey, do what you gotta do bro, but if you do go pro let me know your name so i can watch you on tv smashing faces lol

Alot of great posts and good advice so far.. my 0.02 cents would be, at only 21, I'd give the diet and heavy lifting a few more years before looking toward aas. You are young. Your natty test and gh levels are probably at peak levels right now any way. I'm not against you trying a cycle, just think its best to wait a bit. ..if you are dead set, maybe try a new PH like Epistane first (or something similar). As an athlete myself, I've been hearing good things about Epistane within the sports community.

Why do you guys think that Test E or C would be best? For an athlete would you not want prop for the less water retention? for an athlete what do you guys think about:

Week 1-12 Test Prop 80mg EOD (low dose cause an athelte does not need too much extra weight to sacrifice speed)
Week 1-3- Winstrol (winny) 40mg ED
Week 8 to 12 Winstrol (winny) 40mg ED
Week 3 to 12 Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) 200iu twice a week
Week 13-17 40 40 20 20 Nolvadex

Or do you guys think that may be too much pinning for 12 weeks?
