3 Meals vs 6 Meals... what does everyone do?

I get tired of trying to eat 6 meals a day, if I could get all my macro's in 3 meals a day would I be limiting my progress?

I prefer to space my meals out through the day. With only 3 meals, we're talking 1500 calories a piece. That's a lot of food to woof down. And then I would get hungry between meals. If 6 is too much to you why not just go down to 5 or possibly 4 with a shake?

i'd have to disagree.. esp if you take macro timing and blood levels into consideration... more frequent meals have been a staple of my philosophy. i know there are different schools of thought.. this is just my opinion

i agree

people piss me off with If it fits your macros because yes it makes sense but people completely forget about micro nutrients. If it fits your macros was just the point that you can eat some junk and still lose weight or build muscle.

But some douchebags eat shit and expect to get the same energy from a donut vs a sweet potato.

Youd actually get a bigger burst of energy from a donut in isolation ;).

I was having the exact same conversation with someone the other day and gave a similar analogy, although I used a bowl of cereal which can be equally delicious depending on the kind..captain crunch for me haha

With regards to the whole 3 meals thing, I know personally I wouldn't be able to do it. I mean I have three meals in the span of about 4 1/2 hours around my workout. Plus, if I tried to take in an even amount of carbs in three meals (on my high carb days) I would just get fat. I mean a 1000 calorie meal, for example, is going to have a much different effect when ate in the morning vs. in the night before bed.

Total energy balance will determine what effect a meal has on you not the time you eat it

You will get better results spacing meals out IMO and from my experience. Get excited about and addicted to eating, and eating multiple times a day. That's part of the fun of living the bodybuilder lifestyle.

Smaller meals more often is far better for me personally, i find if there is a steady stream of nutients always flowing then my energy stays up throughout the day and my muscle have a constant supply of protein to feed off of. One has to take into consideration metabolism as well though, in my opinion a guy with a fast metabolism is going to go crazy and go into hypo only eating 3 meals a day, for me if i pass the 3 hr mark, which rarely happens, but it does from time to time, i start to fade and start to feel very weird, soon as i eat again im good, but a guy with a slower metabolism might be able to cut meals out, still making sure all his macro are right and be ok, its going to be different person to person.

2 meals a day for me usually. Meal frequency doesn't matter. It's about preference. Obviously 6 meals a day makes bulking easier. Vice versa. Find out what works best for you.
