48 Year Old - Wants it back

I am a 48 year old male that is trying to get some physique back. I currently run 5 miles every other day, and I do P90X regularly as well as weight train. I am doing all of this, but am not seeing the results that I used to. I am sure it is due to my age, and probably low testosterone. Through recommendation, I bought some RS Transaderm to hopefully give me an edge. I am not really looking to get huge" I just want to build some nice mild definition. I was going to do the Transaderm by itself, but after reading some of the forums, I see a lot of guys mixing various potions along with it. Please keep in mind, most of what I am reading is totally gibberish to me. So if someone can make a simple recommendation on how I can achieve some noticeable results, please let me know. Also, if it involves getting additional products, I will need to know where to get them as I have no resources.

Thanks a lot in advance guys for helping an older gent out!

Mike

You should get a blood test done to see what your testosterone level is at first. It may be low or it could be perfectly normal. Do that before you start taking stuff blindly and shut yourself down. Until this stuff isn't "totally gibberish" you really shouldn't be messing around with it. You risk screwing up your hormones for life. And you don't even know if there is a problem. Other things can be limiting your gains in the gym. Or your T could truly be low. Let's find out with a simple blood test.

If you do have Low T you can get testosterone presribed by a doctor. A pharmacy and a prescription will be your "source".

I'm 49 and about 2 months into TRT. I had the same experience... been active and worked out all my life and was getting less and less payoff for my efforts.
Muscle to fat ratio was going down, strength was going down, felt terrible mood wise. Got tested (about 230 AFAIK) and went on TRT.
The good: it works very well - 15 years of decline erased in 6 weeks. Moods better, strength way up - gained muscle and lost fat.
The bad: I didn't really understand the commitment I was making and now I worry that the time will come to pay the piper. I worry that something (blood, lipids,
prostate, hair) will force me to quit and I'll be worse off than before: struggling just to get back to my crappy pre-trt levels on top of
dealing with whatever issue(s) caused me to have to go off trt.

The idea of "just a boost" is very appealing but that is just not how it currently works - make sure you understand that and take your time to do
some research (i wish i had) and you will be happier with your decision either way.

Similar comment to mptrz. I'm 52, 5' 10". 6 years ago was 230lb with body fat all over. Started to see a drop in erections, etc. worked out and focused on weight loss. Got down to 185 in 3 years. Problems with libido was becoming more an issue. Started losing strength fast. Arms shrank. Went onto Viagra to help. Became moody. Tested T year ago...330. 6 weeks ago... 293. Read up on TRT...but not enough. Started testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) with a men's health clinic 6 weeks ago. PCP yelled at me for starting TRT. When you read about it, you see how dangerous it can be to "play around" with this stuff. Don't do this blind. Get tested. Use a Dr. / facility you trust. Now My workouts stick with me and gaining strength. Better libido and morning wood (but that has faded a bit too). You will have to work with your Dr to "dial-in" dosage, etc.

How's your estradiol looking?

I don't mean to high jack the thread... But it was 33 pg/ml range <39. This was taken 3rd week of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) by PCP. Had blood work 3 days ago by men's health clinic and waiting for results. I am concerned since my nipples are itchy since the last pin. On 180 of test cyp every 8 days.

I would do as Megatron suggested; get a blood test and see where your levels fall. If you'd like to look into getting on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), I'd be more than happy to help you. IMT offers dr prescribed hormone replacement therapy and also a free pre approval of program recommendations. Send me an email :) lindsay@increasemyt.com
