Currently on 5 day split 3 on 1 off 2 on 1 off would it be considered overtraining if I was to do cardio and abs on my days off..meaning I'm in the gym everyday

Thats not an easy question to answer,
Id really comes down to your diet and how long you have been training
Also it depends on your goals that you are trying to get to.
In addition physiologically everyone can be a little bit different
Over training will cause a plateau but may not always be noticeable as well
some of the key indicators can be elevated resting heart rate increase in blood pressure and general fatigue as well as sleeplessness
I do cardio and abs on days in between and have at least one full day of rest each week.
but I keep my cardio moderate at a max of 150bpm.
but ultimately it really comes down to your own body

Right on...hasn't been a problem until recently ,I'm currently test cyp and deca but do cardio to contol body fat levels...I was gaining solid weight but now seem to be stuck at 190 (started at 173) ..wasn't sure if it was my body taking a toll..but like u I'm going to take at least one day full recovery ,thanks for the input

I find for me that 5 days of weight training a week is too much. 3-4 days max is good for me. Don't get me wrong, I would love to lift every day but it would be overtraining. Like stated above it comes down to your diet, rest, level of training, etc. Listen to your body, if you feel if you are not fully recovering before the next workout then you are overtraining. Especially if you do say chest/tris and then are training shoulders but still sore from the chest workout.
