I was wondering if anyone has used weighted dips as the compound 5x5 exercise in their chest workout? I'm getting a little tired of bench in general, and thought this might be decent.
That routine is The Bomb, it's giving me great results. I've been following it religiously for a couple of months now. Good gains in shape and strength.

I do weighted dips on fridays as a shoulder/tricep exercise. (just finished, in fact......I feel like a beat up pussy) If you do them just right, yeah they can be used for chest. However, I'd think a pressing movement would be better for overall chest development in that part of the workout.

Yeah, I just wasn't sure. I always do body weight dips as a warm up before bench just because it hits all the right areas, and I just got to wondering how well they would fare as the 5x5 component.
I would not think they would be ideal, but I assume if you really were strict and doing them properly they could be a substitute, not the best idea in my opinion though
Yeah, like I said, I do them as a shoulder/tri exercise, but they also hit the chest to a degree. So I guess it is plausible that my chest gets hit 2 times per week.
