Anastrozole over responder?

I think I'm an over responder to anastrozole.
I'm injecting 150mg test cypionate per week, split into 2 injections. I was prescribed 1mg anastrozole per week, split into two .5mg doses. I tried that for 2-3 weeks, and I noticed my joints started popping and cracking, then I was more tired than usual. So I took no anastrozole for a week and a half or two weeks, to try to get my e2 back up. After about two weeks without anastrozole, my joints felt normal again, and I felt less tired again. Then after my injection, I noticed my high e symptoms returning again, so I dropped my anastrozole dose to 1/4 mg twice a week. Felt good for a week, then joints started popping again, and I started getting really weepy. I'm not due for blood work until Jan. 11, and I need to get more dialed in by then.

The only other thing I can think to do, is to inject the total 150mg of test once a week, then take 1/4mg of anastrozole the following day. Thereby cutting my prescribed dose of anastrozole from 1mg/week, down to 1/4 mg/week. Because obviously, the 1/4 mg after my .375mg test, lowers my e too much.

Any suggestions?

On a positive note, since going on anastrozole, I've started to notice that I'm getting more "cut". I can notice I'm losing fat. Slowly losing, but still losing. I was unable to really lose any fat for the first 4-5 months on trt without an AI.

I don't think you are an over-responder. You started out taking an insanely high dose relative to your Test dose.

As for what's going on now, you need to get blood work. Get the sensitive estradiol assay run. Without that you are just guessing my friend.

Thanks for the quick reply Megatron.

Insanely high? Many people have said that 1mg anastrozole per 100mg test is a good starting point. I started at 1mg per 150 mg test.

Anyways, getting back to your point, if I go get the sensitive e test, do I get tested at peak or trough? Do I continue taking the 1/4 mg anastrozole twice a week until my bloodwork, even though I have low e symptoms?

Keep on mind, I inject Sat. Morning and Tuesday evening. So when would you recommend my blood test. I'm guessing if I get tested at trough,(say Tuesday afternoon), my e would be lower than if I tested on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon.

Alright, maybe "insanely" was too strong a word. But, most guys don't take 1mg of adex per 100mg of test. That is too much. Many guys won't even need an AI on 100mg of test/week.

Ideally test your peak and trough levels to get your range. While you are going there, you might as well get the Hormone Panel for Females to get your other numbers too (it is for men too). I would stay on what you are doing and get blood work done on Monday. You should have results 24-48 hours late. But if it is really bothering you no harm should come from skipping one adex dose. Just try to stay on your current protocol up to getting blood work so you can see its effect.

There are other options for managing E2. Have you read my sticky post called Basic Overview to TRT? That covers a lot of this.

Ok. I noticed the panel for females has estradiol, serum. Is that the sensitive, or do I need to add that to the female hormone panel?

And yes, I've read all the trt stickys. But I'll go back and reread them to refresh my memory.

I'm due for my 1/4 anastrozole today. Do you think I should take it? I'm going to try to get an appt. tomorrow for blood test.

That panel has the regular assay. Get that and add the sensitive lab test to it.

I would stay on your current protocol to see where you are coming in at on blood work.

You don't need an appt. You just walk in and it is first come first serve.

i am very sensitive to arimidex as well. i am currently taking 90mg cyp e4d, which averages out to 157mg cyp/week, along with 320iu hcg e4d. i had been taking .25mg arimidex the day after each cyp injection, however, that put my estradiol levels at less than 20. since i couldn't get any adex pills smaller than .25mgs, i am currently skipping a dose every other injection. so basically, i am taking .25mg adex e8d. i have tested my estradiol levels twice since i started this protocol, and my results were 29 on a sensitive estradiol test, and 40 on a regular estradiol assay(which is usually 10 points higher than the sensitive kind).

day 1 320iu hcg
day 2 90mg cyp
day 3 .25mg adex
day 4 off
day 5 320iu hcg
day 6 90mg cyp
day 7 off
day 8 off
repeat cycle

Ok, I went and got the estradiol sensitive assay test. Since I'm due for a more thorough,(more expensive) blood test in a few weeks, I only got the estradiol sensitive test.(for the immediate future, insurance covers zero pertaining to my trt, so it's all out of pocket).

To refresh, I injected Saturday morning(@.375 mg cyp), took 1/4 mg anastrozole on Sunday early afternoon. My blood test was Monday around 3pm. The test range is 3-70, and my result was 10. So, it looks like I'm sensitive to anastrozole.

As it looks now, after I skip the anastrozole until my joints stop popping, my libido comes back, and my bad moods go away, should I:

1). Continue injecting 2w and only take 1/4 mg anastrozole 1w

2). Inject the whole 150mg 1w, while taking 1/4 mg anastrozole 1w

3). Something else

Any opinions would be appreciated

I don't think you posted what your E2 numbers were at when you were not taking any adex. Do you have those? I'm wondering if you even need an AI at your current test dose.

As for adex, you can ask a compounding pharmacy to make smaller dose pills for you or perhaps they can give you adex in liquid form that you can dose however you want. Ask your pharmacist for a good local compounding pharmacy and go see what they can do for you.

Another option is to pulverize your adex pills. Then you can dose them however you wish.

It's a little complicated, but I'll see if I can explain it properly. I was on 150mg cyp a week, split into two injections. My dr. wouldn't prescribe an AI, and my estradiol(not sensitive) was in mid 40's. I was a miserable bitch a day or two after injecting, from high E symptoms(even at 2w injections). My dr. Refused to prescribe an AI, so I dropped my cyp dose to 50mg/2w, to hopefully lower my t to e conversion. After about 3 weeks at the lowered dose, my symptoms were still there about 36 hours post injection, twice a week. Then I got my blood test, and estradiol(not sensitive test) came back at 40 at trough. So, I assumed my e was much higher at peak (when I had high e symptoms).

At that time, my dr. was willing to prescribe me anastrozole. So, .375 mg cyp/2w, along with .5mg anastrozole 2w.

So to sum it up, I had high e symptoms on 50mg cyp/2w without anastrozole.

Ok. Both good suggestions. If I go the route of pulverizing my pills, what can I dissolve them in? There is no alcohol in my house, so that won't be an option.

Thanks again, Megatron. :)

Orange juice? Anything to mask the taste. Or put it in a spoonful of jam.

Ok, so I'm not really looking to dissolve it, just to mask the taste.

One other question. If I pulverize a pill, take about 1/8 of it, how do I store the rest of it? Maybe I could get some gel caps, pulverize and divide the pill into 1/8ths and put about 1/8 into each gel cap? It won't be exact, but hopefully close enough.

Sure. Or just keep it in pulverized form in a bottle. Whatever is easiest for you. Just don't let it get contaminated.
