Hey guys so I suffer from anxiety,OCD and depression.
I am looking into meds to help and also therapy as I know meds are not a solution. At least not in the long run.

I have tried zoloft and it did improve my mood however I had to stop because it stated making me sick. Well it made me sick from the beginning I would dry heave and or vomit it did not go away after a month so I stopped. It also killed my libido and drained my energy the first half of the day. I am normally a morning person however on zoloft I could not get going in the am.
I am turns off from ssri as I've read they all cause erectile issues and weight gain.
I was looking into wellbutrin. Does anybody have any input or expirence with this issue and meds? I really want to avoid fat gain and Ed but I also want to improve my life and be happy so if that's the only option I guess that's the only option and I'll have to suck it up

take it from someone who has had the same symtoms, go all natural, do not drink any soft drinks, energy drinks, nothing with artificial chemicals, just drink lots of water and fresh juices (buy the fruit and blender it with water and sugar or honey) no fast foods, no microwaves foods, just all natural fruits and vegetables rices, pastas and get your protein from eggs, cheese and beans. stay off the porn as this will also cause you to be depressed after you wank. ALL of the ssri's are designed to keep you hooked on them and cause the actual depression that you are trying to get rid of. stay off the caffeine as well, as this will enhance your anxiety, dont even drink that green tea in a bottle because those are sweetened with aspartame. Go all natural with teas that have no caffeine and lots of antioxidants, and natural mood enhancers that stimulate your brain in a good way. Go all natural bro, and you will save yourself a bucket of money on drugs, and hospital bills later because of the side effects of the drugs. if your playing lots of video games, throw them in the trash or have a garage sale, and stay off the idiot box (TV) as well, as all these things are designed to stimulate the brain in a negative way through the signals that they send out. get lots of fresh air and sunshine, get a new circle of friends that are into the same healthy things, get up early exercise and keep going through the day, and go to bed early. This is guarantee to help you at a low, low cost. Its your choice now to do what you will, for me this worked and I am healthier, happier and more in control of myself than everyone around me. Hope you take this for a spin. let me know how it goes, hope for you the best bro.

I already eat pretty much all natural, only about 2-3hrs of tv per week. I don't drink sodas at all either.

I used 150 mg of Wellbutrin while on 20 mg Paxil....
it is a stimulating anti d....
you cant try 100 mg...
are you low in T ?
If you have anxiety though....wellbutrin is not really the drug for it.

I've been diagnosed with generalized anxiety. As a child I ha germ issue, I'm 8th-9th grade I was anorexic. Exercise anorexia. Had a good period of time 10-end of senior year no issues them end if senior year had bad relapse. Went to the marine corps and did fine. I thrived actuLly. At boot camp and my school I was spot on. The structure kept me focused. Them a year later it got bad again. I take it out on diet and exercise. I do excessive note writing and constantly think about my exercise. Still have body image issues.

On test I feel much much better. Recently I have had a relapse and very depressed and anxious. During first few cycles I felt amazing. So happy

I'm scared to take Paxil as everybody I know got chubby on it.
My doctor told me wellbutrin can help anxiety I some but some cases can worsen it.
My uncle is on it but he just has depression. He loves it got huge as in muscle on it. He felt good all the time so for him it work. Also boosted his libido.

Oh ya and I've been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.
Been very compulsive latley. Binge eating, spending $$, etc this is not normal for me.

I do have a lot of stress in ly life right now. Hoping things get better soon as I'm getting out if active duty and going reserves soon.

I'm not advocating illegal drug use, but Have you tried marijuana? I'm fairly sure if you can get ahold of juice you could get ahold of pot.
Painkillers, antipsychotics/depressants are really dangerous in my opinion, they make you think and act differently especially when you mix with alcohol, I don't even want to think about steroids.

Listen to all the disclaimers on tv about anti depressants, "May cause suicidal tenancies"

I personally suffer severe depression at times, But it's only due to my surroundings and happenings.
I personally do not medicate with marijuana but I do have many friends who do, and marijuana can be consumed in many ways other than smoke.

I can't
Smoke as I'm in the service and plan to become a firefighter aftert enlistment as
Well as statin the reserves so I get tested regularly for drugs

I agree with Apollon. I tried wellbutrin for two months, and it did nothing for me. I am back on Lexapro, and feel a whole lot better.

If you cannot manage w/out meds, ask for Prozac. It is old medicine but good. I have been on it since 87' and I suffer no sides. They always come out w/new shit and they all have big sides for most people. Some have sides from Prozac, but very few. It also carries a very slight upper type side so most don't take it at night. But that effect is just so very slight.

I do not promote any medicine, it just so happens I have to take some. Suicide for me not to, due to Bi-Polar Type I all my life. With meds I stay ok, so I'm not an insane character guys. :)

I rec stay away from the pharma meds. I HIGHLY rec "Kava Kava" I use root extract sometimes, or the drink with raw root, but it tastes nasty as drink.
PM me if you want know where I get my extract past from, that I take like a pill, roll into a lil ball and take like a tab. Safe and helps.

go medical then and get doc to sign papers.. I highly rec is the MJ (legal) and kava. works for some, not others.

From my own experience, try to gradually get off meds. They are not your friend. They will just mask the symptoms but not do anything to fix the problem. As mentioned before here in this thread try to observe what triggers your anxiety. Whenever you feel it, try to stop, take deep and slow breaths and welcome the sensation of relaxation.
I found that my body (brain) doesn't like the feeling of relaxation but I try to welcome it and feel good with it.
Another thing I noticed is for people that suffer from anxiety the brain is over working, so you notice and feel more things. For example when you can feel your heartbeat (most people have to pay close attention to feel that) so try to slow your brain down.
As for depression most of it lies in your thoughts. Try to keep good and positive thoughts. When you don't know what the outcome will be you have a 50/50 chance of being a good or a bad outcome. To be honest this ratio is more of 99% good for 1% bad outcome, so educate your brain on paying more attention to the good things and giving less importance to bad things.
If you do any recreational drugs I would say stay away from them. Stay around positive and happy people and fight this fight. Don't rely on the easy routes.

I hope I helped!

I'm gonna say this one more time one more time and then I will, in respect to all will not argue and I will stop posting on this. NOW OP in bold you say you are OCD, well that's mostly a trait (disorder) in which is extremely hard to get over, stop and cure. I asked I think before have you gotten a psych MD's diagnoses, then confirm w/another.

Do you have a disorder, are you Bi-Polar ? are you by diagnosis CLINICALLY depressed. If you don't know or haven't been , diagnosed, seen by the psych THEN DO SO. SO then you can begin some sort of treatment.

Correct n the rec drugs by all means

I have been Bi-Polar type I, all my life and now at 62 it is not as bad. BUT it is real and there is no CURE.

SO This^^^^ in bold BULLSHIT. If you see a doctor you might have an illness that if treated can get better. There are sides to all compounds. To a person with Bi-Polar I or Schizophrenia or clinical depression well MEDICINE is you friend. It can take care of the systems as said, but some time there is no way out. Find another n=med that works with your doctor.

If someone has a real disorder you better not suggest the to stop. I know many that need meds an to get on the right med takes some time many tries.

Tell me to just get over it and get off the meds , well I might kill someone or myself because my disorder is real. NOW FYI I did exaggerate I'm not gonna do that, but there are those who do. Many people after years of depression and anxiety have committed suicide. NO one will listen and tell them get over it or just calm down and he meds will make you sick, just look at you. well FVCK you.

These mental problems don't usually start out with a bag and go away, most of the time the get much worse with age. It is through meds and therapy that it can be arrested but not cured.. Some do! But most , if it is clinical only learn to deal with it with the meds and such.

Sorry to go on.....!

I have seen it, I've been there. I'm G2G but I processed for the worse before better. Many Too many docs just say h take this or that you are bi-polar shit, NO too many labels that are not correct and YRES too many meds to those people. BUT if it is bothersome and it's been a few years and others know it, well....HELLO. Get the help and just like TRT or an Edo doc, there are quacks and there are the good one. FIND OUT THE REAL DEAL .

Ok guys I got pissed because BULLSHIT get off the meds they are not your friend, in SOME cases they are you fvckin life line.

As I said find out, go to more that one doc seek therapy first but ... I'm done..... :(

Hey Lou! First off I want to say I hope things get better as I know the struggle. Make the changes and try new things. I have diagnosed GAD and OCD. My medicine mooooostly is excercise and I feel Appleton gave some great advice. Gets to a certain point though where if you suffer as bad as I have you simply can't function. I use a low dose of cipralex (10mg) many do 30mg. It helps with my excessive irrational anxiety and compulsions. I really believe though excercise will be the biggest helper also for mood. Stay away from benzos as they work well. Too damn well. Lol. It will be something you regret. Unfortunately my junk works at about 25 percent capacity. Sex doesn't feel as good neither does finishing and it's harder to reach it. Not gonna lie as cipralex messes that up but to me it's still worth it. You have to weigh the pros and cons and to be honest you have to giv a medication two full months. Two weeks don't show full effects or rid the side effects. Believe me on this. To have five tabs on hand of benzos when you travel just for security can make you feel better knowing it's there. I've spent most of my life suffering with this. Hardest battle of my life. If you have any questions or just possible info I might know id be happy to help another with the same struggle. Be positive because it WILL get better. All the best to you my friend. Chin-up brotha!

I ditto that, wellbutrin did nothing for me, after a period on Seroxat the one eye monster went on strike, started on 20Mg Lexapro and got control over my mood, got a job, started to go to the gym again, will go down to 10Mg now and hop to quit soon, Pressure and stress started my anxiety, job,
age, money Etc, now I am on a very mild Test replacement therapy and hop I will gain my youth mental strange again, guess it is all about getting what fit you best and get back out there and get a normal life again,
