Hello ladies, Im new here and I have a question for my wife. She has been training for a couple of years now eats good and looks great. She is 5'6" 120 dont know b/f but it is not very high. Anyways she wants to do a Anavar (var) cycle to put on some muscle and tone up a bit. The thing is that she is on acne meds Sulfamethoxazole and some creams. Do you ladies know if there are any interactions. Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks.

it seems like i've heard somewhere that pain meds and anti-inflammatories interfere with AAS, but i'll have to check around about the antibiotics. i'll get back to ya...

ok apparently antibiotics DO interfere with absorption of AAS; i'm still searching for a study but so far that's the word from those who know about these things. i asked a friend of mine who is an endocrinologist and he's trying to find an article for me. i'm not sure if it's only certain antibiotics or all of them, but supposedly there is a problem with taking the two together. i'm sorry that i can't be of more help!!

She wants to start var on mon. I guess we'll put that on hold. We really appreciate the help. Keep us posted. Oh yeah if she stops the antis how long should she wait before starting var ? Is there a long half life on antibiotics? thanks Kitty.

that's good to hear IG; maybe it IS only certain antibiotics that interfere. thanks for sharing your input! weren't you on var as well?

I have had to take a ZMAX pack 2oz quick digest antibiotic in the middle of my last cycle and I was on Var among other things and I did not feel any difference...In fact I had to do 2 different rounds of antibiotics during that cycle and it didnt seem to change anything....DROPSET

antibiotics should not interfere with hormones... however other medications do

Main concern here is liver functions and values... antibiotics are hard on the liver as is var... so IMO, values should be monitored...

question: why is she on acne medication?? did the doc say what may be causing her acne?? is it hormonal??

var may either make her break out worse or could possibly help clear up her skin... this is why i'm curious about the cause of her acne...

regards,
super

Super I did not even think about what caused the acne in the first place..So my own experience is that var makes me breakout like a mo fo unreal and when I stack it and us higher doses I am absolutly a ZIT FACE and it HURTS..So I have learned alot about this for future cycles B-5 I take 6 a day..I do hope in this ones case that the VAR clears her up that would be an awsome result....had to add my .01cent here....DS

B5 does wonders for preventing acne breakouts... research even suggests it is superior to accutane, with no sides. Worked VERY well for me.

Dr. did say it was hormonal but was not specific. She just went to 10 mgs and she seems to be ok. Time will tell. Wicked pms though. Im gonna post her before, durring, and afters. Oh yeah still waiting for the increased libido. Thank you ladies

yea... pain killers allow you to push through training pain and could cause severe injuries because you are a bit numb to actual "pain" that could be causing damage... Use with much caution and be smart about it... i won't preach at all girl so don't worry ;) just be safe!
But in regards to an interaction... none that i can think of nor remember reading about...

luv super
