No, just make sure you wipe down the vial top before putting the pin in.

It is a glass bottle... the ones that you break open. The needle is a size 23 one inch long and i am going for the buttocks (I have extremely low body fat so I think it should be OK). I was just concerned because there would be some oil on the needle after withdrawing and from what i understand this should only go in the muscle and will do bad things if some gets close under the skin.

Next time get some 18g - 1.5" pins just for sucking up the oil. It is way easier and quicker.
The little bit of oil on the pin is a good thing, it acts as lubrication going in. When I change from the 18 to a 23 or whatever I'm injecting, I always push a drop of oil out so it runs down the fresh pin.
Why don't you think about doing a thigh injection, then you can use two hands, just makes everything easier...IMO

I know what you mean about the thigh injection... it is easier to see what one is doing. But as I am looking over www.spotinjections.com it seems there is more risk as well. I guess risk is only reduced by proper education, but I don't feel there are enough pictures for me to get a good enough idea of where to hit the thigh. I have chicken legs so it is not like there are all these big slabs of defined muscles with plenty of seperation. Us skinny guys have a harder time differentiating between the areas. I'm sure i sound silly, but think back and remember your first time (I never even had a flu shot yet =)
