Aspirating blood

I have just done my 3rd jab of test cyp. I am rotating glutes so this was the second time my right glute was hit.

Firstly I've been suffering from pinning pain ever since the first pin. It feels as though there is a firm lump under ther skin.

I went to inject this time and 3 times I aspirated blood. In the end I went a little higher. Now I am worrying if I have even hit the glute. The 4th attemp no blood was present in aspiration.

I went to inject exactly where I made my first ever pin but just drew blood? What's goin on do I have an infection? Need longer needles?

I'm currently using 23g 1 1/4

What happens if I missed the muscle? A waste of gear?

No 1 1/4 is plenty long. Ima be honest, I've never aspirated. Now I'm not telling you that u don't need to. But I've never had a problem. And there usually is a small drop of blood In it after I pin. Also if u miss the muscle I think it's ok it just disperses slower in fat... I think that's right but someone may correct me. U should look up spot injections

I'm just confused why the area that seems swollen/firm under the skin is aspirating blood into my needle 3 times. I had to move up nearly an inch to get no blood. I'm paranoid I've missed the glute now.

I have a pretty fat butt but my first pin was successful without any probs in that area. It's been swollen for 7 days now. Pain in the area.

You're probably shaking like a leaf and moving that needle all over the place while trying to aspirate (not necessary, but TOTALLY understandable if you want to) at an odd angle and then injecting/re-injecting. All that movement with that tiny piece of steel is causing a lot of tissue damage which you're going to feel for awhile. The one nice thing about glutes is that if you miss the muscle belly, you do have a nice layer of subcutaneous fat which will still hold the oil. It just absorbs a little slower into your bloodstream, that's all.

I might catch shit for this, but I would seriously look into vastus lateralis (quad) injections. They're WAY less awkward to do by yourself and while they do have their own quirky problems (nerves, more blood vessels), if you are able to perfect your technique; they are smooth and easy to do.

I never aspirated either and never had an issue but I don't have much fat. I use 25g 1" and pin in glutes fine. Have 23g 1.5" that I'm using next

^^ This. I shake like a madman when I try to aspirate. Best way for me to tell if the needle is in the muscle is to flex, if the needle is in muscle, you will literally feel it inside your muscle, its like a constricting feeling, its not very enjoyable.

some people a while back on this site where talking about a insurance company doing a test and finding out that most nurses didnt even aspirate correctly and that to do it correctally it took a long time. If I remember correctally they said 15 minutes
