Aspiration Question..

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question. I have had 2 injections of latest course in my glutes. When aspirating do i need to put "considerable force" into it? The reason im asking is because my GF injects me (She does a great job) and i tell her how to aspirate and she does. She mentioned to me that when she aspirates it feels like the needle kind of "sticks" or is "heavy to extract" if that makes any sense? Like you know when you pull air into the syringe before sticking it in bottle sometimes its sticks. That kind of thing.

She showed me that she doesnt "flick the tip" but actually grabs the plunger with her whole hand in order to aspirate. I always found that weird since she is going into muscle what would she pull into the syringe with such force?

I know that IF she injected into a vein i would know immediately with coughing, heart attack liek symtopms etc?

Should she be using such force? Or would blood enter rather easily. Lastly when aspirating, how far should you aspirate? 0.01ml? 0.005ml?

If you are in a vein blood will enter very fast, you don't have to pull the plunger back with that much force. Id pull it back further thaN those measurements you stated, that is hardly anything at all. I usually pull back .25cc or so all I usually see is bubbles..

try using a different guage. .23 is stabdard but if u can take a little pinch get something a bit larger, should help.

^^no you don't need a bigger needle. That just causes more damge to the muscle tissue. Blood will rush into the barrel of the syringe rapidly even with a 25g. You'll hardly have to pull back when ur in a vein and the blood will rush In.
