Before using steroids everyone needs to get basic bloodwork done so they will have a "baseline", or documented pre-steroid bloodwork on file. Baseline Blood pressure is also required.
Guys you don't have to go to your doctor to get this done either so now you have no excuse. It costs a bit of money but you are going to be spending money on gear anyway so caugh up a bit more for your own good.
YOU CAN GET THIS BLOOD WORK DONE AT INDEPENDANT LABS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE A DOCS SCRIPT!...sorry for yelling but some of you guys are sleeping I think he he he.
TOTAL TESTOSTERONE.
You need to get this checked for two reasons....#1. If you are having a hard time with sex drive long after post cycle therapy with clomid or nolva then you should get your T level checked. You will then have a 'baseline" pre-cycle testosterone level to compair your post cycle testosterone with. If your T level is low post cycle you will now know just how far below it is from your natural level.....some guys don't have a very high natural T level and it may only be 350-400ng/dl...and they feel fine and function sexually fine at this level too. Then as you go about treating this low T level yo will know just how far you need to go to reach YOUR normal T level. Please see my post "How to prevent and treat permanent shut down".
#2. More importantly this "baseline" will give you a number to "shoot for" when you are on HRT as an older man.....you will be shooting for your test level that you had before your natural T levels started to permanently decline. Don't laugh...I am certain that almost all those that are concerned about their heath will be on HRT as they enter their old age.
LIPID PANEL (fasting )
Get your total cholesterol checked as well as hdl(good cholesterol) and ldl(bad cholesterol). Also include triglycerides. Ideall you want a total cholesterol below 200 and a total cholesterol to hdl ratio of 3.5 to 1 or BETTER. Shit my ratio has been as crappy as 15 to 1 while "on'.
Dig up old posts on treating a crappy cholesterol....with stuff lke Policosinol, Niaspan, non flush niacin, and satins etc.
Steroids will sometimes elevate total cholesterol and will ALWAYS hammer hdl to rock bottom. In fact I think this is the single worst side of steroid use. So you want to know if you have a lipid problem BEFORE doing gear so you can start doing something about it.
ALSO, right after a cycle you should from time to time see just how bad your lipid profile got, again compaired to your baseline....then after a couple months "off" you should check it and once again check it against your baseline
Before checking your lipid panel you need to fast for at least 8 hours.....water is okay.
LIVER ENZYMES (liver panel)
You should know where your AST, ALT and GGT levels are at BEFORE going steroids. Take a "baseline" but don't drink an alcohol the night before the test....and don't lift weights or exercise for a couple day before as well as exercise and elevate AST and ALT.
You should check your liver panel once in a while and especially while on 17aa roids like winstrol , d-bol etc. Your AST and ALT will be elevated on any cycle but it shouldn't be more than twice normal. IF YOU GET ANY ELEVATION IN GGT above high normal then you need to stop the steroids pronto!
Visually you also need to take a good look in the "whites of your eyes" from time to time while on 17aa roids and never use them for more than 8 weeks at a time. Your "whites" should never have any yellow shade at all as this indicates liver damage. And for goodness sake watch how much you drink while o 17aa roids!
BLOOD PRESSURE (BP)
Go to the drug store and sit in that machine and get your blood pressure checked. If the top number is 140 or more be concerned....if the bottom number is 90 of more also be concerned... and see you doc. Check you BP while "on' gear from time to time. It will be a bit elevated from your norm while on any gear because all gear causes some water retention and nervous system stimulation....but you always wnat your bp to be below 140/90.
The blood work above will cost about $120.....not bad .
