Bench Presses To Neck For Upper Chest???

I read an article by an old bodybuilder that swore by bench presses to the neck for upper pecs. Has anyone tried this technique with good results???

Never tried it, but I wouldn't want to chance it, bringing the bar right over my neck like that. I'd be afraid I'd get pinned on the throat or let it down too fast and crush the larynx. Just my .02

I agree with spikeylizard about the posibility of injury, but I do remember reading an article that mentioned something about what you are talking about, I think it was Larry Scott, but I may be wrong. I'll try to dig up that article tonight, and post it.

it would depend if you flared the elbows out or kept the tucked . elbows tucked and its hitting the triceps harder .

I have seen guys with big chests, and they dont have to do that. I think its dumb as hell, and a good way to have an accident.

they'll fuck up your shoulders if you go heavy, much safer to go to lower chest

bodybuilders old and new reccomend a lot of stupid shit.. guess the only way to see if its going to hurt you is do it

I have done these before after I read something written by Ian King. If you do them with lighter weights for higher reps, they don't feel dangerous to me. My upper pecs get a great pump from them. I have had guys give me shit, cause the weight looks so light. Once they have tried them, they have added them to their arsenal too.

Yep...give em a shot Golden...then if they don't feel right, don't do them anymore. One thing I have learned is that different exercises are more effective for some folks than they are for others. For example, many people swear by close grip benches for their tris, but they don't seem to do much for mine.
