Best time of day to workout?

I think the general consensus is whenever it works best for you. No source on that, but I've wondered the same and come across that answer more than once.

Personally I've always been a morning person, even when I'm tired I look forward to the gym and walking out afterwards like a boss, whatever muscle group I hit pumped as hell and ready to plough through another day at the office. If I hit a new PR I spend 10 minutes putting it in my stupid little spreadsheet and dreaming about the day my combined lifts break 1500.

I like mornings personally. It feels good to get it done with while your fresh, but it is truly whatever works best for you my man!

its up to the person.. where ever it fits your schedule..

i feel stiff in the mornings.. so i like afternoons.. i feel more warmed up

Definitely depends on the person, I like the morning. Testosterone levels are higher first thing in the morning, feel better throughout the day

I like the mornings, like to get my workouts done early and have a nice pump throughout the day. As long as you have the proper rest any time is good, and make sure you got food to keep you going.

A lot of you guys like A.M. and a few like P.M.
To me in the A.M. your body is stiff even if it dosnt feel like it. Think about it, you have been laying in bed all night with out the effect of gravity working on you. So your joint have lost the plumpness that they gain during the day from fighting gravity (synovial volume is less). Now I may be full of shit but I feel that P.M. workouts are more healthy for your bod then A.M.

I am a morning person myself, one maybe two meals then the gym. I feel, at least for me anyways, this is better, because all the meals i eat afterward are being used for recovery, whereas training at night i find you cant get enough food in before bed and thats taking away from recovery. Also i find at night i cant get a good sleep if i train to late as im amped up afterward and cant relax

Recovery will happen regardless of when you take your food. There's also such a huge overlap between digestion, absorption, and intake that even the food you eat before the gym will be used for recovery.

I like morning or evening. Cant ever workout between 11am-4pm energy always sucks form me then. Morning is good for me just make sure to eat a good breakfast, get caffeine, hydrate and take longer to warm up if stiff. Plus as another poster mentioned you are able to eat more after and I feel recovered better.Evening workouts are fine too for me but I have trouble falling asleep and since I workout after dinner I only take a whey/casein/vitargo shake so I don't get as many calories after training.

I prefer afternoons. Seem to have the most energy then. I work swing shifts, try working out after a 12 hour midnight shift. It sucks

I believe this is true and I do work out AM mostly, but usually I'm up for an hour or two before and I do a short cardio warm up to get my body going.

it's a known fact that if your newly worked out muscle run out of food they tear down existing muscle to feed and repair the newly worked out muscle. So I've always worked out in the am to feed my muscle every meal minus breakfast. I'm not a Dr of physiology or biology but I think it's sound logic.

I've heard that morning exercises are not such productive as other. My exp shows that I have more possibilities to train in the morning but my results are better and stonger at evening training
