Biceps shape. . .

Yes i know the peak and shape of your muscles are genetically predetermined. I have a thought though.

When biceps grow bigger, they can only grow in so many directions. They can get wider, they cant get longer so they have to get wider, or grow UP, giving you peak right? In theory when you increase biceps size dramatically you will develope better peak right?

I would say yes to that, but it won't as dramatic as someone with good genetics that give them a nice peak.

My arms are pretty big but my peak sucks. My bis peak closer to my delts than my elbow. That is just genetics though.

I have the same problem as MP5 .......Just shock em for growth that just about all you can do for em.

I have to agree also...but, i have found that when i did arms, all i did was standing dumbell alt curls and did not twist the wrist at the top, also, i only did preacher curls, and had my elbows wide..

i found the without twisting the wrist at the top, i had a longer flatter shape when flexing.

on the preachers, my inside bi muscle grew inward like...weird huh...

this time around, i decided to twist the wrist, and i gained more height or peak.

and using the preacher bench with my elbows in moe, mage the muscle thicker, but did not grow inward but up....also, if you want to check the peak, besides just the looking, run a ruler horizontally from you delt pear across above the bi and measure doen..unless your bi surpass your delats or are even, then i guess the point would be moot...

You wish but the body doesnt work like that , the body is an efficient machine , why would it pin point the strain on one area instaed of bringing all the muscle mass possible to get the job done .....Does it make sense to you ???

work em hard, get em bigger, and don't neglect the brachialis. No offense but unless you are getting on stage, a 20 inch arm with no peak still looks fucking awesome. It is not like you are walking around hitting a most muscular or a rear double bi for people at the club.

okay.....You can not gain a peak, so either you had a short bicep muscle to begin with or it was very small and and u started to add too it.
PREACHER CURLS DO NOT ADD PEAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CONCENTRATION CURLS DO NOT ADD PEAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since your BI-ceps have two parts to them, why can't you work one part more than the other to change the overall shape of the biceps? I did mostly concentration curls for a long time one and it really seemed to build the outer head more, especially when you really twist your hand untill its facing almost outward at the top.

It`s impossible to contrat a part of a muscle , the muscle will contrac as a whole during heavy training simply because it has no other choice , lift or fail ...........
What you can do is work your brachialis(outside and inside of your "biceps") harder by using a hammer or palms down grip during rows and curls .....

i once new a guy (met in jail) who was a ex-con on his way back to prison from the local jail . anyways we trained together for a while along with another ex-con who was just in jail doing a 30 day sentance . these 2 guys had f_ckin AWESOME peaks and biceps in general and all they ever did were heavy barbell and dumbell stuff in da'joint .
when i mess with them funky little peaking movements it gives me a good finishing pump but never increases my peak . heavy alt. dumbell curls/cable bar heavy curls , and rev. bar curls increase my biceps and seem to finally be adding peak ! I SUSPECT THE NEW PEAKING IM GETTING IS JUST THE MUSCLE FINALLY GROWING AGAIN AND GETTING ROUNDER .

Can't you work part of muscle group more than another. Don't you do incline bench to work your upper chest and decline to work your lower chest. We say we are working our pecs, but you can work different parts of the pecs because they are really 2 muscles like your biceps. If you look at a picture of the Biceps Brachii you can see that each head has its own tendons which means that the range of motion for each is different.

The inner head of the biceps contracts on elbow flexion only while the long head attaches to the shoulder which means the assist on front raise type of motions but at the elbow both heads atrtach to the same place which means you cannot contract them individually during any type of curls;

Theres some controversy on the lower pec x upper pec issue , i belive you cannot target one more than the other regardless of the exercise but i cant say i`m sure of that ......

Funny pic for the board :

There are certain exercises you can do though to help bring out the peak, such as concentration curls, pulley curls, supination curls, and lat-machine pulldown curls. Another thing you can do, believe it or not, is to flex the bicep hard without any weight and raise your elbows high and flex the biceps until they cramp. That also helps bring out the peak.
