Bike vs. treadmill

Everytime I try to do the bike, I just give up after 15 minutes. I don't know why but it really sucks for me. I feel like shit when I do it but maybe thats what my body needs to get lean. When I get on the treadmill, even if my heart rate is up where it should be for the low intensity session (or even jogging) for 45 minutes, I feel great and can go forever but as soon as I think about that bike, I feel like shit. Is this what I need or does it not really matter what cardio is done as long as the heart rate is up for 45 minutes or so? Thanks.

My solution to cardio is mountain biking. After half an hour on an eliptical or treadmill, I hate life. Mountain biking is fun, so before you know it, you've been out there for 4 hours.

I've never tried mountain biking. Im sure it is alot more fun than any stationary bike or treadmill but I dont really feel like driving to the mountains nor do I have 4 hours at my expense while going to school full time as well as working lol. Half hour on the treadmill is easy for me. Its after that that sucks. But even if I went mountain biking, I would still need to change my cardio right?

You don't have to drive to the mountains, of course. But if you don't have the extra time to drive somewhere, bike, and then drive back, you just don't. Totally understand.

i dont think your body adapts to specific cardio, your threshold just increases so to speak. so eventually to get the same results , you may need to bump it up to 45mins or an hour. maybe an extra day or two per week. as far as biking, you dont need to go to the mountains, just get on your bike and ride SOMEWHERE! it's much better than a stationary bike when you are actually moving.

Here's my take... It doesn't matter unless you have bad joints (i.e. bad knees, hips, etc.) and in that case low impact like stationary bikes is better. I personally think the tread mill at a pace of 6.0 or higher is a much better workout.
Now also for people like me, I tend to get very board very quickly on any cardio equipment. I'm bored to tears after running in place for an hour. So what i do to stay motivated is switch it up. 20min on eliptical, 20min on stair stepper, and 20min on treadmill.
