Blood pressure up, is it treatment or stress or both?

Before I started treatment I was always a 120/80 guy. I have even been 110/70 a few times.

Today I was 134/88 and I have been on treatment for 3 months. Had labs done recently and my hematocrit is getting high, will be donating blood soon, I hope.

Heres the thing , I am also very stressed out due to several different factors that are all slamming me at the same time. I like to think that I am a pretty happy go lucky guy and dont let things bother me but I am also an analyzer constant thinker type as well. Perhaps I am letting things get to me more than I think??

Obviously no one is going to really be able to answer me on the stress issue but maybe someone has some input on the TRT side of this question.

I would assume that higher hematocrit can raise your bp and I m hoping donating blood can bring it down , what do you guys think?

I wouldn't let one blood pressure reading get you too stressed out. Maybe you had some caffeine or something. Get a blood pressure monitor and check yours periodically. They don't cost much. I really recommend this for guys on TRT as this can be a warning sign that Hematocrit and/or Estradiol need to be checked.

And remember... You're on T now. Life is good. :-)

yes I agree, most of the time and increase in blood pressure is do to increased water retention. When on TRT it is wise to minimize your salt intake and obviously E2 is closely related to water retention as well.

My E2 was perfect. I was taking an Aromatase inhibitor (AI). After posting BW to the board guys rec to stop the Aromatase inhibitor (AI) since it was not the sensative test. I just discontinued it

Since your E2 was good while you were taking an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) and now you are saying that you have stopped chances are it's probably elevated. But that should be the 1st place you investigate based on what you wrote. Get your labs done again and check your E2. Hope this helps.

A decent practice would be to take your basal blood pressure. Wake up, immediately take BP. Stress during the day gets the best of me too, and if i check during the day, it is somewhat elevated. If your basal pressure is elevated, then maybe look into it further. But your pressure wasnt tremendously high....bottom number was good. You want to watch them both, but the bottom number is the killer...for the most part.

Top number is the pressure as a direct result of cardiac contraction. Bottom number is the pressure inside the the arteries in between those contractions.

Why the need to repost your exact quote so many times? I can see the occasional double post, but a SEPTUPLE post?

OP: I agree with revisiting your E2 and watching sodium, but you do need to remember that stress is the number one killer on our society today. It might be time to take a step back and reevaluate your life choices and where you're at currently. If you see a possible avenue that could help relieve your stress, it is in your best interest to pursue it. Even if your cause of bp elevation isn't stress-induced, the fact that you mention it tells me that there may be other impacts on your relative health due to extreme stress being a part of your life.

My .02c :)

Edit: Hah! I misspelled septuple. :worried:

Guys great response from you all except for the septuple dude, iTS not E2 because like I said I just discontinued it as of recent like the other day. And I stopped taking it because it was perfect according to the "normal test" but a "sensitive " test would put my e2 10 points lower which would put me around 15 which is starting to get low. I plan on getting labs in 4 weeks to see how things look with the deletion of the AI.

I dont use alot of salt, my protein powder has about 200mg and I bang out 2 or 3 shakes a day. So that adds up to 600 plus what ever is naturally in my food.

Im thinking it could be stress, one thing for sure I am very impatient lately, I get real snippy with bullshit. But at the same time since I started treatment I feel great. More energy, better concentration, more confident, its like Im living a duality right now.

My stress consist of ; a terminally ill family memeber, a 6 month old that doesn't sleep ( which means I dont either) , work issues that may directly affect my salary, and a pinched nerve in my neck that has all but left bench pressing heavy out for a while. Then throw on top your usual everyday bullshit and there ya have it.

To combat the stress I need to exercise....thats all there is in the world. I eat well, drink lots of h2o and take my supps/vits.

But less sleep and heavy responsibilities may be whats weighing me down.

Actually its good just venting on the board like this, feel like Im getting shit off my chest.

Just checked my recent labs and my sodium is 140! Within range but high! Glad you asked about that since I didnt notice earlier.

I never paid that close attention to my sodium intake before but I have been now. Just looking at some basic stuff I have been eating/drinking I was suprised by what Im taking in.

My protein powder is 295 mg per serving and I use almond milk which is 165 mg per 8 oz.
I usually go over the 8 oz serv and even go a little extra on the powder. So lets just say on shake is approx 500 mg of sodium.
Im good for about 3 shakes a day so theres 1500 mg easy and then you gotta factor in naturally occurring sodium in things like chicken, canned beans, bagels and breads etc etc.

So there ya go.

Also I managed to get another BP reading this morning and it was at 128/78.......whew.

So first thing is to stop worrying about shit and the other thing is to cut out the sodium.

Thanks guys!
