There is a Dr who put together a line of products and a few books. Eating for your blood type. Has anyone tried this out?
For example a Type O blood type (45% of the US pop) should be eating High protein and lots of greens and some fruit. Avoid dairy and wheat. Type O is the oldest Blood type and its what our primitive ancestors started with....... Then there is Type A (40% of the US pop) and they should be eating largely a veggie diet with wild caught fish and tofu .I thought tofu bad for everyone but that explains why Japanese do well with it.

This Dr also says that Type O's produe a higher amount of epinepherine and norepinepherine and should avoid caffeine.

I have the book coming , just wanted to read others thoughts on this from this forum.

Blood type is a misnomer as it's really just the antigen that is being noted. I suppose that as the antigen is part of the immune system, there may be *some* merit to his recommendations like with potential food allergies, but just like horoscopes - make shit general enough to seem to apply to everyone, and people buy into it.

It's actually the Rhesus value that truly matters anyway. This is why people used to got blood tests before marriage as a negative RH mother with a positive RH child could potentially cause an immune system reaction, killing the unborn in the process.

My .02c :)

Im not sold on it by any means but ironically enough his recommendations for my blood type do happen to be the type of diet that my body overall responds best too when it comes to no digestive/allergy issues etc. I am not convinced by any means that it is hard science though.

Same with me. I read what my type should eat and I am already pretty much there. Im not supposed to eat dairy but I have to have my greek yogurt at least eod so thats not going.
The Dr sells a whole product line so like anything else you gotta watch, when makin money is involved people will tell you anything if they can get away with it. So I take it with a grain of salt.
But apparently he has done studies and research on all the types and it is accepted by a small margine of other Dr/scientist and the people who follow the diet plan love it. Of course its all theory right now and its not hard science.

It goes beyond the antigen tho. Apparently , blood types have certain characteristics. One I found interesting was that Type O produces 2 enzymes during digestion that help break down protein, fat, cholestrol more readily than the other types. All the types produce these enzymes but Type O produces it 3-5 times higher. The Dr claims that this means type O is a better meat eater. Not that the other types cant eat meat just that O can eat more and actually stay healthy on a higher meat diet. And In Type A blood they produce a betteramount of enzyme to break down grains than type O does. and so on ...

Also type O produces higher adrenal chemicals making coffee a bad choice. Also type O produces more stomach acid. So they are prone to ulcers. I suppose if you dig deep in research and medical files you will find that more type O have ulcers and stomach issues than other types. But I must point out that there are more type O blood types than any other blood type in the world so that may be why. Unless the stats and figures are adjusted accordingly and I wouldnt know if they are or arent.

But I am forever the skeptic on anything so your reference to horoscopes is a pretty good one!

I'd have to spend a day digging through studies to see how credible this guy is, but some of it does make sense to me. I'm type A+, and a diabetic haha - so much for grain digestion... D'oh!

(I know, semantics - but I had a chuckle) :)
