Bobby Lashley the nest Brock Lesnar?

Ya, I heard about his AFL debut. I think he's under contract with them for 1 or 2 more fights. He actually wrestled for a college that several of my highschool buddies got scholarships to (Missouri Valley).. its not division 1, its NAIA but I heard he was still a beast and did very well. I think he's got a true shot in the UFC if they let him in... I just remember reading an article awhile back where the UFC said they were NOT going to start stacking their HW division with more pro-wrestlers.. so he may never see the octagon. but who knows.
Unfortunately, Brock and the likes of Lashley are probably the future of the HW div as it sits at 265. The way the heavywieghts have been going and local/regional HW's I've seen around here, I'm very disappointed. My opinion is to drop the HW division and just add a 225lb div and stop there.

people want to see heavyweights , especially guys who dont follow the game but just tune in for the big stuff. dropping the heavyweight limit to 240-250 and adding a superheavyweight class with no weight limit would draw the viewers.

They are going to have to set a limit for HW and add Super HW like Dadawg said. It is coming to the point where you need to make 205 or you better be damn near 265.

Right now there are not enough good 265lbers, but give it a year or two and you will see more and more. Guys like Randy who are 220lbs are going to be out sized far too much. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple years.

he looks like he knows how to get into shape

edit : almost looks like bob sapp in some of his WWE pictures, surely much smaller

DADAWG, I agree however I have always found Super Heavy Weights to be "boring". The local event we have is the MFC and any SHW fights I've seen are just some overly huge out of shape guys sweating over each other. They don't have the conditioning needed to keep up a good fight nor have I found them to be overly technical; though when one connects with a solid punch it can sure change a lot. The MFC has a roped ring and one fight had these two blubbers fall out; absolutely horrible.

I agree though, there should be a lower cap on the HW division to ensure those fighters are fighting at a closer weight especially when you compare it to the other weight classes. The only bad thing is I don't think Brock Lesnar could lose even more to fight in this weight class which means he'd be up against nobody we would care to see as all of the better fighters in the current HW division are or could easily be in a newer HW division.

This is exactly why I think they should just lower the HW cutt off and stop there. 95% of the HW "up and comer's" i've seen (outside the UFC) have been boring and they gas out after the first 30 sec's. I'm not saying all, just most. So when new views come to the fights or tune in, they see crap and think twice about coming back... just my opinion.

You need somewhere for the Brock Lesnars, and Mark Hunts.

But It's a huge gap from 206lbs - 265lbs.

Soon enough you are going to get some more swoll athletes like Brock cutting to make 265lbs. Then you have guys like Randy, Cro Cop, even Fedor who are 220-235lbs. I know Fedor is a freak in MMA but the majority of the other smaller HWs are going to get killed based on size disadvantages.

There is not enough talent yet for a SHW class but it will come.
