Bowflex

lol. Go ahead and rip.

For the group of us who don't bench over 410 pounds, bowflex is plenty of weight.

Nobody was ripping you dummy dang! Go ahead and waster yer money just be honest with yerself you don't want to gain mass through the use of free weights and basic exercises.
heck you can get a good free weight set up with benches bars weights and power rack for 5-700...

Good luck Charles Atlas with yer "dynamic tension" machine.:p

Massive g, how do you like the ironmaster dumbells?

Love them bro, just bought the 5-50 lbs to go with the 80-120 lbs dumbell sets...very quick to change and feel like commercial dumbells in the gym.

actually, you are very wrong there.

I did my research, and I could not accomplish the same setup for the same price.

Go ahead and say this 3 times.. "I make excuses in my workouts". There are alot people who don't understand how to workout, and how it works. You could workout with a rock & string if you know what you are doing.

Bowflex is simple. It has resistance of which you can configure for different mussle groups. In some ways its better than free weights, in other ways it has its dissadvantages.

For example, when you lift free weights you can use momentum to lessen the actualy weight of the lift at differnt parts of the extension. With bowflex you have a constant resistance that is almost impossible to gain momentum on. Thus, you get more constant weight, and you loose the ability to cheat.

With bowflex you also get "stablizing effects" that you get with dumbells(not quite, but close). Problem with most machines is that they dont workout the stablizing mussels. This is the "only" area that I have found that could be complained about, and is easily fixed with throwing in a set of dumbells to chest/bi/tri workouts. (this is what I do).

I also have a gym memership because I like to workout with friends as well. I can tell you that not a single machine in the gym comes close the quality of the bowflex.

As far as results:

well in 4 months (the last 10 weeks on cycle) I gained over 20 pounds without any fat gain. I have started my cutting now, and will be glad to show all the disbelievers of BowFlex before/after pics. I will be sure to repost on this thread in a month.

alot of mixed reviews.I love it.The fact that you cant get any momentum makes a huge difference.rips me apart evertime. Thrilled to here u had good results w/your first cycle.Im about to do my first and real excited to do it with bowflew. The results I got with out juicing are amazing.Better then I ever got with free wieghts or cybex or nautilus. So the juice should kick it up nice.Im psyched! your gains will slow due to stagnation and lack of variation angles balance and etc....just wait...I don't go to the gym for freinds or use a partner the only person you can depend on is yerself...

Shout it OUT!

THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR FREE WEIGHTS AND BASIC EXERCISES!:40oz:

NO I am not wrong about the price you just did not know where to look for the best and discount prices. I got all my equipment for less that a Bow Flex costs. I am in my garage with a kerosene heater when the gym is closed due to snow and in there with two huge fans in the summer when the gym closes early...
I am kicking myself because 5 years ago I had a chance to get almost a whole-albeit small-gymworth of equipment for 5 K at a bankruptcy auction.

I used my neighbors Bowflex and about snapped the cables and pulled the machine over.

We all have different goal so if that is your game more power to it..as far as knowing nothing how to train I am happy to boast a 290 lb 11% bfat physique..from very intense training smart nutrition and adequate rest.

More power to you-you should submit yerself for those BowFlex ads...

"I used my neighbors Bowflex and about snapped the cables and pulled the machine over."

Thats just like saying "I tried to use dumbells, but the weights kept falling off the bar". lol. You have to be kidding me. Any peice of equipment takes learning it. Just like anything else there is a learning curve.

"your gains will slow due to stagnation and lack of variation angles balance and etc" Sorry here bud. I can accomplish almost any angle & ballance that you can in a gym. The funny thing here is, most people workout poorly (even the 290 pound guys) and don't even use all the proper angles and ballance in thier workouts.

Bottom line, you can get a great workout on the bowflex that is almost EQUAL to the gym or in some cases better. Where the bowflex lacks you just add a couple sets of dumbells to your bowflex and now you get everything(incase you didnt realize, bowflex is a great bench).

Bowflex is takes up 6x8 feet space and does an amazing job for anyone who is lifting less than 410 pounds.

PS. I too was a skeptic, and I almost just bit the bullet and bought all the gym equipment for my home. I was affraid of loosing gains, and training poorly(I was used to gym equipment). Then one day I tried a friends bowflex and couldn't believe how nice it was. Took a little getting used too, but I realized that by changing the way I do a few of my workouts that I can do everything I needed.

LMAO!!! Jeez ! You guys are gettin nasty...

Naw just playing a bit...like I said more power to the guy if he wants to use the bowflex...just don't like guys telling me that I don't know how to train.....it's all good....

I think doing both free weights and bowflex will get you better results because when your muscle gets used to one thing you can change it to make it harder. I think the bench press on the bowflex is more a effective than freeweights but for arm curls free weights are better there are alot of advantages and disadvantages for both

its all about your personal goals.ive never seen a bowflex but if you get a great workout, pump, and enough resistance to make your eyes burn go for it.
