Breast Cancer drug used as AI?

So, I'm new to testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), and my doctor only have me on Test Cypionate 200mg / 2 weeks. And I read that I need an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) such as arimidex? I haven't talk to my doctor yet, but isn't arimidex used for breast cancer?? Kind of scary to take it isn't it?

I'd have to say 90% of the drugs we take as men were designed with women in mind. It's just a matter of menopause/certain cancers being recognized first, so pharma followed their needs accordingly. HCG/AI's/SERMS/etc all have on-label use for women, but work great for us men too.

Yes but still isn't it a bit creepy to be taking a cancer pill ??? when I don't have cancer?

And how do I know if I do need AI?

It's not a cancer pill, it's an aromatase inhibitor. It blocks your naturally made aromatase from converting testosterone into estrogen. As Darkmatter stated, you may not even need it depending on your dose. I do happen to require it as I'm on 250mg/wk for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), but I do know plenty of men that don't at the 100-150mg/wk range. All depends on your genetic disposition to aromatization.

I remember coming across a breast cancer forum when I was doing some research on AI's and a woman said she was not going to take Arimdex because "steroid-taking bodybuilders used it". Both men and women have estrogen and there are situations where it medically becomes necessary to control it. Thus the need for an AI.

You are going to be on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), so you need to become an expert...because most of the docs out there know even less than you do. Yeah, you may or may not need an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) at that dose. It depends on how you feel and how your bloodwork comes back.
