building calves

I have always followed the theory that calves could be worked every other day. Should i stop this practice and lift as heavy as possible

Do you not have decent calves to begin with? Some ppl just do not have good calve genetics. I was blessed thank God.

id say try different approaches , train calves heavy one day , then break and hit them the second time that week and go ligher high reps

I have great calves without even working them. My traps on the other hand are very slow growing. I seem to get more benefit on my calves from cardio than weights.

Heavy platform calf raises do the job for me. Hurt like hell when you're done, but they make you grow!

I played drums for a very long time when I was younger and I think beating on the Bass drums and high hats built mine up pretty good.

High rep/ heavy weight did mine pretty good. 20-30 reps. I mix it up a lot too. Sometimes ill go down to 6-8 reps super heavy. Keeping your toes pointed on hamstring curls will get them pumping then hit some standing calf raises. I jog on my toes/ balls of my feet too. Mine aren't world class, but they dont look like noodles..

I've always had skinny calves and the only thing that made them grow was loading them to a complete failure every time. I mean when they're so tired that you can't even do a light set anymore. How to get there doesn't seem to be that important - high/low reps, medium/heavy weights - it should all work if can't walk after you're done. Obviously, if you work out this hard then doing them every other day is not going to fly, you will definitely need more time to recuperate.

I'm gifted there and only work them once a month or so as they grow too easily, long muscles too past half way to the ankle, but if it makes you feel better i have the problem you have only with my bi's

Same here. Big legs and chest, but long ass arms that build slowly.
