i dunno why, but for some reason when im doing deadlifts ( normal ones) for my back , my hamstrings tend to hurt, and my ass muscles pull .. am i doing something wrong ?? that you can tell .. thnx

Quite possibly has to do with tight hamstrings bro (hammies attach up on the lower back). Work on developing your flexibility in that area and it should help considerably.

You were told wrong.

Well, sort of. Ballistic stretching is bad. (bouncing stretches) Static, or slow, sustained stretches that you hold for a good length of time (10+ seconds) are good, as is PNF stretching. (downside of PNF is that it requires a second person to stretch you) They help to stimulate bloodflow into the muscles and loosen them up for the work that is coming. Not stretching is much worse and much riskier injury-wise, than stretching beforehand.
