Calcium d-Glucarate for managing estrogen

My TRT Doc recommended that I not use Arimidex for estrogen control while on TRT, as it negatively effects natural growth hormone production. He said to use Calcium d-Glucarate. I have been using it alone to manage my estrogen over the last month, and at a Total Test level of 1010, my estrogen is now between 30 and 36 at trough using 3000mg of Calcium D-Glucarate a day. I use 1500mg in the morning, and 1500mg in the evening. The cost of the Calcium d-Glucarate isn't THAT great, but overall it costs more on a monthly basis than it would cost to use Arimidex. However, it appears to be a more natural way to do it. I just wanted to pass the information on in case anyone was interested in trying to manage estrogen this way.

What would your E2 be at without anything? How much test are your using weekly and what is your injection protocol?

My protocol is 2 injections per week, every 3.5 days. I inject 70mg x 2, for a total of 140mg per week.

I can't tell you exactly what my estrogen would be without it. Reason being I was trying to manage my estrogen with Liquidex before, and I felt like either what I had crashed, or it wasn't working for me. At one point my estrogen was at 55. However, I believe that was during a period when I was still taking DHEA at my Doc's recommendations, and I have since ceased the use of DHEA, because I believe it was causing my e2 rise to a point where I could not keep it under control.

I can tell you that at 100mg of Test per week, which was my original TRT dose, I was able to take nothing to manage e2 and my e2 was at 39. If I treat it like a mathematical equation and divide 39 by 100, then multiply by 140 (my current TRT dose per week) that would put my at around 54.6 for my e2. That's everything being equal and proportionate.

When I was using the DHEA and my e2 was at 55 I was having early symptoms of gyno. Hard bumps behind the nipples, etc. Since I've stopped the DHEA use I've been able to get my e2 under control using only the Calcium d-glucarate, and I used Tamoxifen from PSL to get rid of the gyno symptoms. Nodules have been completely gone now for about a month.

I suspect that aromatization is not a linear equation. Nothing ever seems to be that easy when it comes to hormones.

You may want to consider dropping the calcium and see where it puts your E2. I suspect it is not actually making a big difference. It would be an interesting experiment.

I honestly believe it is doing something, as I was at 39 at 100mg, and I'm now at 30-36 at 140mg. The aromatization would have to go up at least some. At this point, I'm not really willing to drop it, as I'm FINALLY getting my e2 completely in check with my current protocol, and I've been testing e2 every couple weeks for a few months to monitor changes. For the experiment I would have to test again every couple weeks until I stopped seeing a change, then start taking the Calcium again to get my levels back in line. While I have pretty good insurance, I still pay 10% of the total cost of the labs, so it adds up after a while. Maybe at some time in the future I'll test it, but for now I do feel like the Calcium is providing some value.
