Hi,
I know many of you are well educated about hormonal issues and I was wondering if you could give me opinion.

I haven't had regular period for long long time. I'm 35 female. The last period I got was after I upped my thyroid dosage (thyroid is under control, free t3, free t4 in upper range), which was in december; since then I haven't had my period again. I got my blood work done last week and I was wondering if you can give me an opinion.
Last 7 days my breast got bigger, hard like rock, swollen, painful, can not run, jump rope. What could possibly cause my imbalance. I am not Pregnant.
My total testosteron is over the normal range.

Hemoglobin A1C 4.9 normal range <5.7
Prolactin 5.3 normal range 3.0- 30.0
TSH 0.01 normal range 0.4-4.5
T4 total 9.5 normal range 4.5- 12.0
T3 total 126 normal range 76-181
Estrogen total serum 738 normal range early follicular 70-400: late folicullar 100-900; luteal 70-700
Progesterone 21.2 normal range folicular <1.0 ; luteal 2.6-21.5 ; post menopausal <0.5
Testosterone total 72 normal 2-45
testosterone free 3.0 normal 0.1-6.4

Currently on 25 mcg cytomel, 125 mcg synthroid, 1000mg metformin.

couple questions..

have your sleep patters or training habits changed within the timeframe coinciding with this event?

did you add a compound or increase dosages on anything other than what you already have mentioned?

do you take birth control?

was your period regular/ irregular before it stopped?

have you experienced anything like this before? even remotely similar?

have you ever been pregnant, have you had a child/ children?

current stress levels..

have their been any outstanding events/changes in stress that coincide with the time frame of your menses ceasing?

do you know what your family history is with menopause, approaching menopause ( grandmothers/mother/ aunts/ siblings)

I'm sorry you are dealing with this, hopeful that you may get some answers here..
I'm happy to offer any insight i can possibly provide.
there are some very knowledgeable people on these boards.. Bronson

Take all of your numbers and go ask your doctor.

great suggestion actually..

but she might be here asking for insight and opinions because she is reticent to tell her doctor about her supplementation.

your health is nothing to play around with, nothing fitness or aesthetics related worth damaging your body..

if this continues to be an issue, i agree with GG

and you should consider discontinuing your supplements and going in to be seen..

thats my two cents..

asking questions here won't hurt anything,

provide a little more background ...

lets see what the guys here have to say..

Your Total Testosterone is higher than normal, but that is about where it would have been at when you were about 20 years old. Women's testosterone levels tend to decrease with age.

Did you check estradiol by any chance and do you take any form of birth control or have an IUD?

And why are you taking cytomel, Synthroid and metformin?

hi,
I have doc appoitment in one week, but the waiting is killing me.
To answer questions
I didn't change anything (no training, no suplemments, I didn't increase my medication)
I am not on birth control pills
I have ammenorhea - in last year I had only one period
I have never had anything similar before
i do not have children, never been pregnant ( took pregnancy test 2 days ago)
stress level the same
I do not know my moms, grandmom history of menopause..My mom went thru it after 50'
thx

high norm range for estrogen, progesterone..

do you have blood work from before your ammenorhea started that you could compare to?

if typically those numbers would be much lower for you; you could be sensitive to those higher values, even within what would clinically be described as normative ranges.. and those numbers being elevated could point to another issue

have you had any pain with this? painful periods in the past?

ovarian cyst may cause hormonal spikes and ammenorhea

any correlating history of uti's or pelvic infections within this time frame?

reading here that elevated testosterone levels, thyroid issues also listed as influences

so.. with the knowledge that you upping your thyroid meds coinciding with your menses ceasing, i would drop back down to the dosage you were at and see if your period returns ( did your previous dosage have you within normative ranges?)

the main thing is this, ammenorhea is really just a symptom thats flagging underlying causes, the lack of having menses is generally not a major health concern

if you're my girlfriend sister or daughter, id help you relax with any anxiety you had about this.. once this has been peeled down to the underlying cause , your menses will return and you will know what mechanism(s) were involved and how to keep this from ever being an issue again

I'm sorry you are going through something like this, just know its not the end of the world.. I'm sure things will be fine and you will have an even better understanding of your body and how to regulate your system once this is all said and done.

please let me know what you think, what you find out.. and let us know how things go

best wishes, Bronson

it's interesting, bc before december my latest blood test were much different. My estradiol was 40 on lower side and progesterone was <0.5. It may be true I may be sensitive to this change or I may have cyst.

Do you always get your blood work checked at the same point in your mentrual cycle? If not, that likely may explain the big swings in levels.

it's hard to say when my blood test are done , I do not have regular period for almost year. I had only 1 period over the last one year.

This is so weird.!!!!!!!!!!!! Please read !!!!I had only one period in the last year (december) in January my doctor ordered tests , my progesterone was <0.5 and estrradiol 40. I was on low low side. In March I have done the blood tests that I posted as a last test and as you can see my estrogen, progesteron are on higer side and Testosteron elevated.
My breast were swollen for the last week and so tender. I took the pregnancy test just because I was curious, believing it will come out negative as I was ammenorhetic and it came out POSITIVE , shock. Bought another 2 tests and all of them POSITIVE. WOW. Not saying Im not happy, just amazed. Is it possible to have positive tests and be not pregnant. I and my hubby didn't have much sex for the last month. How do I find out how far I am?

thank you

Congratulations! Definitely go see your OBGYN. Get everything squared away so you can have a problem-free pregnancy.

If you have a boy I think you should name him Charles.
