Can I just drop incline benching?

Hey guys. I currently do two sets on the BB incline and then two sets on the DB incline on chest day. My question is the BB incline hurts my shoulders and its starting to be a prob can I just stop doing the BB incline bench and maybe just double up and do 4 sets on the DB incline. The DB`s don`t hurt my shoulders like the BB does. Just want to make sure this should be ok before I drop it off my routine. I`m not sure why it bothers me so bad but, it hurts right on top of my shoulders. Not a good hurt either.

Do you warm up and stretch the shoulders & also use some with light weights before doing chest exercises? If not you should. It helps

I stretch good. I do a good warm up also. I just have a pain in my shoulders that seems to get worse as I go up in weight on the incline. I mean I guess I can just do 155 forever. If I throw 185 or 205 on there for 10 times they will be killing me.

Be careful with that bro. I've had shoulder problems for a long time & only recently gotten em better than they've been.

How many cycles have you done? How old are you? Sometimes your muscles grow faster from gear but your tendons are still less mature & unable to keep up with the newly formed muscle & strength. Take it easy on the shoulders if they hurt. Electro stim, physical therapy, massage, special stretches, not side sleeping & laying off shoulder excercises all worked well for me. Is the pain in the front top part of where your shoulder meets your chest? Could be a problem with your bicep tendon. Read up on it, there's lots out there

good luck bro

I`m 29. 2nd cycle. They hurt right dead on top of my Shoulders. They always have. I`ll just lay low on them for a while. Sleeping on my side hurts them to.

The rotator cuff consists of a few muscles that literally form a cuff around the bone/joint. Most of the time when people have shoulder pain one or more of the muscles is underdeveloped. If it hurts don't do it, or go very light. If you can manage the DB's without pain Id just stick to that.

From personal experience, when playing baseball and lifting I ended up slightly tearing one of the muscles that was underdeveloped. I was out of everything for about 4 months and had to do physical therapy. To this day if anything is going to hurt it is that same muscle, not worth injuring yourself for the long run IMO. once the muscle is scarred its scarred, thats not what you want.

I'd take a break from training Dude, let that shoulder heal. Well, at least chest and shoulders. If you keep aggravating it, it simply WON'T heal. Shoulder injuries can bother you for a while, even permanently. Start icing your shoulders, and use anti-inflammatories (Ibuprofen, Advil, etc.). Good luck!

All good advice.
Rest is the way to go.
I knwo how bad it sucks when ure in the zone...u feel like ure shrinking with every missed workout but training hurt sucks so bad!
And shoulders are nothing to play with.
Ure on the right track with strictly incline.
I'd take 2-3 weeks completely off and when u do come back...go real light for 2 weeks.
Slow and steady wins the race.

Thanks for the advice. I went in yesterday and did Bi`s and back. I did my pull ups and they felt good. Think I`ll just stick to inclining with dumb bells for a while. The barbell is what hurts me for some reason. Flat bench is fine just that BB incline. I`ll keep a close eye on it.

Of course you can ditch that from your workout. Why not? Incline BB is not THE magical chest exercise and why do something that hurts? Some people just can't do certain movements.

And maybe it's worth hitting a respected chiropractor or muscular neurologist who could tell you if there's anything wrong structurally.

I had the same issue about 3 months ago. Bad pain in shoulders (mainly right), weak and unstable. Im a side sleeper also.

I backed off heavy lifting on the movements that caused pain (shoulder presses, benchd), but kept doing them with light weight.

I also incorporated regular pushups and scapula pushups.

Finally, I forced myself to NOT sleep on my sides. Typically if found my shoulders hurt MORE in the morning. Somehow I was injuring them in my sleep. Probably cause I have pretty wide shoulders, so my shoulder joint was slumping heavily to one side causing the cuff muscles to become imbalanced resulting in impingment when it came time to use my shoulders.

Start small and light and try to build all those muscles back up and regain balance to the shoulder girdle.

Also a little nandrolone deca works wonders :bigok:

Great point on the sleeping on sides my man.

I found that when I ditched my pillowtop for a memory foam mattress a lot of my aches and pains went away.
