Can TRT affect your TSH numbers?

Got my latest blood work back a few days ago and met with my doctor. My TSH is above normal but I have no record of where it was before I started testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). Just wondered if TRT can shut down the thyroid??? Thanks

P.S. I'm having a scan on my thyroid today.

I know your thyroid can affect your SHBG which in turn affects your Free T and Estradiol.

I don't believe test affects your TSH though, but I am not certain. I'm just going by my personal experience.

Here's some info that might help. You could do more searching on this topic.

The hypothalamic–pituitary–thyroid axis (HPT axis for short, aka thyroid homeostasis or thyrotropic feedback control) is part of the endocrine system responsible for the regulation of metabolism.

As its name suggests, it depends upon the hypothalamus, the pituitary gland, and the thyroid gland.

The hypothalamus senses low circulating levels of thyroid hormone (T3 and T4) and responds by releasing thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH). The TRH stimulates the pituitary to produce thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). The TSH, in turn, stimulates the thyroid to produce thyroid hormone until levels in the blood return to normal. Thyroid hormone exerts negative feedback control over the hypothalamus as well as anterior pituitary, thus controlling the release of both TRH from hypothalamus and TSH from anterior pituitary gland.[2]
