Don't know how to post a link with my phone but check Beau Matlock from the 92 nationals on you tube. He's my old friend from diamond gym when I was growing up in nj. He could have been mr. Olympia. But he had health problems possibly caused by insulin. He was 22 in that nationals I think. One of the great physical specimens never to turn pro.

Beau was great. I competed with him in 1990 at the NJ when I was 18. He was 20 and soft so he got 4th as a lhw I think. Heath problems prevented him from getting hard enough so he stopped competing. Clearly, he could have been a top 5 pro. Maybe the best.

I took third at the jr. Usa twice, won my class at the central Florida, won class at Southern usa, won class at the metropolitan in ny(Victor Martinez won the overall) was second in my class in the teenage nj, and 3rd teen nationals. And won overall at sunshine classic.

I really loved bodybuilding but it takes way too much out of you. And it controlled my life for a very long time. To do well at a decent level you really need to live it 24/7. It took a toll on me mentally more than physically. But nothing beats winning an overall, right. That overall vi won was a regional level show but it was definitely my best moment.
