TRT and personality change

While pondering about the effects of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) or HRT I came across the following question. A lot of TRT-patients report a change in personality like more emotional stableness, less nervousness etc.? Is there actually scientific data that supports personality changes like for example changes on personality tests (big five)? or
Has anybody noticed personality changes in his life after entering testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) or HRT?
Im really curious to hear from you.

I can just tell you from personal experience... I've always been an outgoing guy. I have no trouble talking with strangers and getting to know people, but that all started to decline a couple years ago. I became more and more reclusive. Not in a weird way, but just didn't really go out of my way to talk to people or meet new people. Since starting testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) I can tell you that I'm much more assertive. Not in a bad way, but noticeably. I'm a lot more fun to be honest with you, I enjoy conversation again and am able to joke around a lot more. It's really hard to tell if it's an actual effect of the treatment or if it's more of a placebo effect. I'm fairly certain it's due to the treatment though, because I began to know it about the time the Test Cyp should have been kicking in.

Like I said, it's nothing out of control or anything like that, I just feel more rejuvenated and like a younger version of me. I can definitely tell a difference.

Scientific data. Are you freaking kidding me. We're all living it.

Spongy said it best. I'm still getting there, but then I'm on day 16. A little bit better for me every day.

I can tell you data doesn't mean jack shit if your living it. Think about it. If some data said that HRT was a bunch of crap, do you think that it would impact anybody on here? I know it no longer means shit to me. My wife can stroke it, and it comes to life. Do you have any idea what that alone has done for our life?

Sorry

for the missing title. I intended to put one but forgot it somehow. Thx very much.

@Frustrated
As I said Im just curious. It's not that I doubt any of your experiences its just the curiousity wether T has what effects exactly on personality.
what were the changes in your personality? Did you become less anxious? less nervous or thoughtful? More or less introverted/extroverted? more/ less energy? what about dominance less or more?

@Spongy

Thx for the response. But could you please explain it more deeply? Have you changed because you feel less anxious all the time? Or is it because you have more energy? In which way you perception has possibly changed?

I see where you're going with this. Even though I haven't seen any known positives as of recent. My 3rd pin is today.

To your question, I haven't seen any research that actually assesses a population sample using HRT.

I would suggest that of which you are inquiring is not measured in the Neo 5 Factor or MB. Those are transitory predictive instruments and they reperesnt second order constructs. I would believe that you might first assess the types of changes that the guys here are describing in a core instrument. Perhaps Judge's Core Self-evaluation (1998) would be a starting point. Items like efficacy and locus of control need to be taken out of contextual representation and generalized as a "belief" as opposed to a means of action.

yeah....that's what I was going to say. "Check out the big brain on Brad". lol.
Personality enhancer maybe, changer no.

I never really had issues with anxiety. I was at the "low normal" range of T. I was just feeling foggy and tired and lethargic. It wasn't that I didn't want to meet new people, it was more that I didn't have the energy. testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) gave me my social life back and I've met some incredible people because of it. I work about 10-12 hours a day and am on my feet 95% of the time, hence very physically tired. Despite that, I cannot WAIT to get in the gym after work. It clears my head, takes away my stress, and makes me feel great. It's all a waterfall effect. It's not that I didn't have these desires before, I was just so low energy I couldn't get it done.

Now that I have energy, I'm in the gym. Now that I'm in the gym, I feel better. Now that I feel better, I'm more confident. Now that I'm more confident, I'm happier. Now that I'm happier, I have a better social life. etc etc etc, it's all a waterfall, but it started with testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). I know this is not scientific, but it's the best I can do.

Well actually, if you got more assertive and had more energy to do what you want to do testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) changed your personality. Assertiveness and activity level are two important componants of extraversion and extraversion is part of a bigger personality construct which is called "Big Five" - the most important and internationally accepted inventory to appreciate personalities in a scientific way.
I'm really impressed by the highly positive resonance that testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and HRT experience in here and at the same time highly suprised that TRT/HRT appear to be more or less neglected in their influence on psychology by medical professionals. How does that discrepancy happen?

Ps: I forgot to insert the title. Unfortunately editing doesnt work anymore. Would an admin please change the title to "testosterone and personality"? Would be great. Thx.

unfortunately my study of psychology is limited to the study of Evolutionary Psychology rather than Clinical so I can't be of much help from that perspective.
