Creatine to build muscle

Would like a little information on Creatine.
My neurologist told me to take Creatine to help build muscle mass back up on my atrophied muscles. You see I lost a lot of muscle mass on my right side (chest, tri's, and back) due to a nerve damage issue. I went from benching 275 to my max now is 165. I have been recouperating now for a year and its time to hit it hard. All my issues are resolved.
I wake up at 5:30am, drink a preworkout drink and hit the gym at 6am. Post workout protein drink right after workout.
My question is do I add the Creatine to my pre workout drink or post work out drink? I am thinking of using 5g/day.

I like creatine i used to use 3 grams before the workout 3 grams after.Imo it will deff add a few reps to your set witch in turn brings gains
 
i take 3 grams creatine + 3 grams beta-alanine pre workout , and 7 g creatine+ 3 g beta-alanine post workout with 40-60 grams simple sugars. from what i have read, beta alanine & creatine work well with each other. its takes getting used to tho, if u start out @ 3 grams u will feel tingles all over your body. i thought i was having an allergic reaction until i read the label. work up slowly to 3 grams per serving. good luck with your muscle atrophy, i had pretty bad atrophy to my quads and hams and am just now getting better after a long time so i know how hard it can be .
