Crunches, how many?

Ofcourse they will grow faster using weights, they are a muscle as any other and will respond in the same way.
 
adding weight adds mass... and well, look at a powerlifter... not too many have 6 pac abs, but you punch them in the stomach, and youll prolly break ur hand ;)... ive been told that the best way to pull out defined abs is to do ab work with only your body weight as resistance, any sort of weight add on will add mass.
