Is there anytime its ok to consume dairy products?? I pretty much stay away from all dairy but really miss it, I use parmesean on some of my beef servings just to mix it up and have low fat cottage cheese every once in a while, But feel guilty when I do this. Is it ok to do this maybe once or twice a week? I dont have a problem with milk or ice cream or anything, but cheese is my weakness. I also have yogurt about once a month so I consider that my desert cheat, Helps keep me sane. Thanks guys:blue:

Why do you feel you need to stay away from dairy?? There are many nutrients that come from dairy products, I would be just cautious when drinking milk to be sure that it's coming from a reputable organic farmer/distributor. You definitely don't want any milk that comes from hormonally induced dairy cows.
I personally don't drink milk because my stomach doesn't tolerate it, however I could live on cottage cheese!!

If you really don't want to go the dairy route, but enjoy things like cheese and milk... try alternatives like soy cheese, almond/rice/soy/hemp milk, tofu ricotta.... you get the picture.

I avoid all cheese but i do have 2 shakes a day both made with fat free milk both are pwo. I had a tough time giving it up but after a few months i dont miss it anymore.

I've just been told it doesnt digest well so I avoid it. I love my cottage cheese also, I could eat it daily, Hell I could eat it probably with every meal

I eat low fat cottage cheese everyday. It's a great source of protein and calcium. It's a great base for any snack and perfect for just before bed time. No need to give it up.

matters to your genetics and age.. the older u get the harder it is to break down lactose...

if your cutting, i'd keep it to a minimum.. if your bulking. go ahead.. but dont be drinking 8 cups of milk.. thats rediculous

^^^^Good lord I couldnt imagine drinking 8 glasses, hell I cant imagine drinking 2. And I'm only 26 so I guess I should be ok, Thats a huge relief to know I can have my cottage cheese guilt free :)

I drink a gallon of fat free milk a day on some days. I don't have lactose problems though.. Maybe that's still bad?

^^ Damn Choppa I couldnt do it, I have no lactose problems but dont really care for the taste of regular milk, now chocolate milk I could drink that shit up

I love having my shakes with fat free milk but could not imagine drinking a gallon a day. Sometimes I'll have 32 ounces in 2 shakes and I think that's a lot. I'm glad I don't have a lactose problem.

think about all the sugar they add into that milk... and that overload of lactose in your system.. i would stay away from it

yeah when it comes to dairy i am usually good with my nightly cottage cheese or greek yogurt!! :)

never had greek yogurt but I love my gottage cheese. I do eat plain low fat yogurt and mix in fresh blueberries or strawberries

So that brings an interesting question. PWO are you better off with white bread/bagel and some protien? or shake made with milk? Ive always opted for fat free milk shake then a complex carb/protien about an hour later but this post makes me wonder if i should skip the shake altogether and go with a sandwich or something PWO?

a WHEY shake with milk wont kill u.. AND a white bagel.. thats exactly how i do it actually.. though i do switch between water and skim milk

I am a huge dairy advocate. I drink a gallon in about 2 days (and its WHOLE MILK. yea, I'm pretty crazy). I have reviewed some articles for the effects of cholesterol (associated with saturated fat, like that found in whole milk) and effects on serum testosterone. The consensus was that higher levels of cholesterol were positively correlated with higher levels of serum testosterone.

Also, here is an article on the benefits of milk as a PWO drink, due to the balance of macros and electrolytes. Read it.

I say use the shit out of dairy. If you're worried about the fat content, choose non/lowfat. If you have digestive issues, look into digestive enzymes containing lactase, the enzymes that breaks down lactose (the sugar found in milk).
I'm drinking out of my gallon right now.
