I'm doing 12 workingsets for delts now,
but they don't grow much, maybe I'm overtraining
them.

I'm curious what everyone else does :blue:

1 set of upright rows after chest, then 1 set of lateral raises. Bent over rows take care of my rear delts.

you're overtraining them.
i work delts twice a week and do 1-2 sets each time and i'm afraid i'm overtraining them. you definately are.

So it would be better to do maybe 8 working sets once a week?

0-1 per week.
LOL

my delts have gotten bigger in the 12 weeks i have been doing wsb..what do i think is the leading cause of that growth? heavy presses with boards etc...

the only direct shoulder work i do is side laterals for 3 sets of 10-20 reps mostly for recovery. these are not done to faliure..also i may (most often i do NOT) do a set or two of some sort of dbell or barbel press..again this is not done to failure but it is a heavy set in the 8-12 rep range..

the above is n direct comparison to how i normally would have trained haveing a separate day for delts..i would normally do some sort of press and then move on to side raises and then something for rear delts..And i believe my delts grew from doing that..but now there is no way i can pund my delts and still be able to bench heavy..so my advice would be to hit your delts on the same day as becnh this way you will not need many sets to see reults

4 sets... how long does your workout last... 15 minutes?

uh.. no- i do a lot more than delts in one workout. like blackbeard- i do them when i bench and i have to correct myself... i mistakenly said i work them twice a week- thats wrong- only once per week.
look at the larger/stronger guys here- blackbeard and pullinbig both responded with what they do- very little direct delt work. its working for them....

I do side laterals once a week. And i try to do 3 sets of heavy presses once a week. Sometimes i don't do them every week. I try to get some rear delt work also.

Working sets.... Maybe 4, 5 at most.

Your delts also get hit during chest and back training, so you really don't need to kill them on a shoulder day. You'll end up overtraining and/or getting hurt.

I have a bad shoulder and trust me, you don't want to run in to shoulder problems.

I always thought that you have to
train shoulders like you train back, chest.

On a seperate day with enough sets.
So my way of thinking is wrong I guess.

I'm suprised

Every time you press or pull you are working delts, dont overdo it by training them yet again with high volume.

I do a set of side laterals and a set of rotator work with 5 pounds.

interesting, i guess i should do some heavy upright rows and some heavy side laterals after chest workouts? im going to train like a powerbuilder, and was thinking if i really needed an extra day for shoulders. I HATE BB ROUTINES!

I do mostly lateral raises (8 sets) for my shoulders along with a few sets of front raises and rear delts once a week after my chest workout or the the day after. Seems to do the trick for me.
