DIABETIC

As my tag says im diabetic obviously.Im about to start a cycle of just sus.goin to try to pyramid up cause it has beed a year since my last cycle.8 weeks at just 250 mg of sus.then 8 more weeks at 500 mg.my stats right now are im 6"2 205lbs and 33 years old.i wana try to get to about 220lbs by the end of the cycle.the only thing is with me being diabetic my carb intake is not high at all.for breakfast i eat 5 hard boiled eggs with one full can of tuna,1 piece of weat toast no butter.then an hour latter befor the gym i have a 40 gram protien shake.after the gym i have another 40 gram protien shake wait 1 hour then eat lunch and thats 1 piece of chicken breast with cottage cheese low fat, with a small bowl of fruit.then 2 hrs latter i have a turkey samwhich with just mustard tomato and lettuce and only one piece of wheat bread.then 1 hr latter 40g protien shake.2hrs latter dinner salmon, talapia,or chicken with brockli and cottage cheese.then befor bed i have a protien shake.so far with this eating routien my sugar levels are perfect for bein a type 1 diabetic.im also a boxer and i train in BJJ.so i do quite a bit of cardio.so i guess my question is.dose anyone think i can gain about 15lbs with this diet and type of cycle.or do i need more calories in there.any suggestions would be appriciated.i also have nova and clomid for my post cycle therapy (pct). when done.

welcome to ology.

i know being diabetic changes things to a point but nutrition will decide how big you get . with your boxing and bjj your calorie requirements are much higher than a normal lifter . a cycle will help to a point but in the end you will have to eat more.

I figured as much that all my cardio would play a big factor in it.any sugestions on anything els i could add to my diet or replace for more calories without takeing a huge sugar spike risk?i know its goin to be hard but i can also take more insulin to compinsate for the xtra carbs.i just dont wana waste my cycle.maybe a calorie range if you could think of one for me might help.i could just add more insulin as i go.

It baffles me how you even maintain that weight eating that little food. When I did BJJ and muay thai I had to eat super dirty and even then it was hard to maintain weight.

You definitely will need to up cals, especially carbs. A range will be tough because we don't know how intense the training is, etc. But you sure as hell need to eat more.

Thank you both for the replys.i have to just sit down and figure out a way to eat more.figure out what foods i can eat and get away with without afecting my diabeties.i figure i can add in some xtra meals, maybe more red meat and brown rice with some sweet potatos.also im goin to reduce my cardio a bit for my boxing since i dont compete anymore all i really do is train people who are tryin to learn.but as for my bjj i am goin to be competeing in some touniments so cant really hold back there.and i range between200-205.lbs at 6"2 mostly cause my protien intake is so high and i eat mostly all organic foods.also i can aford to drink 4 premade shakes aday along with my powder and protien from good foods food is how im able to keep this weight on.also in my experience if you eat clean and keep the carbs down you can gain some very good quality muscle.but i guess everyone has there opinion on that one.but i guess if i wana gain more your both right ima goin to have to eat more.but the thing is can i still eat clean but with just some more added carbs and still gain about 10-15lbs maybe rangeing about 4000 cal's with about 250-300 grams of protien a day?

this is what i do mostly for the week.first is the gym i train for about an 1hr 1/2.no cardio but heavy lifting.5 days a week and the reason for 5 days is i split my leg routien in to quads one day and hammys and calvs the next.and bjj is 4 days a week for an 1hr 1/2.but with lots of rolling.but with boxing i train only on the weekends and its mostly me teaching but i do run 5 miles 2 days a week with bag and pad work.if anyone knows how i can change this just for about 16 weeks so i can put on some weight.with this cycle.any help would be apreciated.

Congrats first of all on getting a diet to keep you sugar in check. Props.

If you are consuming low carbs I assume you must consume higher fats for energy. If not you might want to try that. Add some almonds, avocado, things with good fats and low carbs. Weight gain simply comes down to increase in calories. You get a certain number of cals from protiens, carbs, and fats.

IMO you drink to many shakes but I only say that because real food is much better and last longer but I'm not diabetic so I can't tell you the best for you. I am hypoglycemic but it's easily delt with thru diet. You burn a lot of cals between boxing and BJJ. Both fun sports. Shit even some of the top 155 lb boxers take in 8-10k calories.

Number one is do not risk you health for a little weight gain. Go to fitday.com and figure out your cals, carbs, fats. See where you are at now and try to add 500 cals. You should contact the diet mod 3J either in the diet forum or thru his banner and see if he can give you some safe healthy options. I would say run your cycle and just try to add some calories with protien and good fats. I don't like to see people take in too much protien. 1-1.5g per lb of bidyweight but again with your diabetic condition and activity level you may need more.

Good luck to you and let us know if you figure this out and how the cycle goes.

TY VM for the advice.ya i do take to much protien drinks but thats while im out and about and most of the time with how hard i train my sugar drops fast so i figured out when to drink a shake and at what times to keep my sugar stable and from droping to low only reason for that .id rather have protien to raise my sugar than a can of sugar IMO.works well for me.but i will def check that site out and no i dont eat much of almonds and alvacado like i should.i can just add the avacodo to my samwiches and then bring almonds with me when i train and take a few minitues to eat a handfull.thanks again for the advice.and ya the diabeties has been a big up hill battle.took a few year to get right.i just had to work with my doctor and be honest with the stuff i take and reular blood tests help alot to see where u stand with ur dieiet.well for bein diabetic that is.

iv delt with a number of people just like you...

its a sensitive matter when your diabetic.. but its only a small bump in the road.. come get checked out
