I have been drinking protein shakes(nitro tech) for two years along with cycling and if I miss a scoop for a day i get consciencous about it. So i have been wondering lately if they really even help me at all. Thanks for any help!

protein shakes are drank to ingest protein,
just like eating regular food.

i hope ur not relying only on shakes to meet your daily protein intake.

100% exactly right.

I just dont know how some people can forget to eat. It is part of the diet so why forget it? I drink about 50g worth of milk every day. With each meal I drink a glass of milk. If i took away all those glasses of milk, I would lose 50g of protein in one day. If I did this too often, it would make a big difference. Point is, milk is part of my diet so I drink all 5. Protein powder is almost the same as milk. It is incomplete but very important with a correct diet.

Also, you dont need protein shakes, but if you make it part of your diet like most, then it is important like any food.

The are a great supplement to real food.

exactly, I would say no more than 40% of your protein should come from shakes.

Ideally, you should get it from eggs, poultry, fish and red meat. Protein shakes are to give you that extra 50-100gms per day....

I would say to use protein shakes 20 min after your worout as digestion is quick enough so you can eat real food protein after 90 minitues-2hrs.
Expensive but REAL food is the ticket!
My basic is meal
#1- shake after workout
2-steak
3-5 chicken
6 -1%Cottage cheese
I am no Tom Platz but it works.
