Doctors decline treatment. Cite Im too 'built'.

About 2 months ago I noticed a huge decline in my strength. Within less than 4 weeks I had lost about 30-40% of my total strength on each lift. I've worked out hung over, after a week long bender and was stronger than this. The problem was compounded because I was sticking to my meal plan, not drinking, working out 6 days a week, but still getting weaker and weaker with each workout. Each workout I had to keep dropping weight. Sex drive is dead. I didn't even have the urge to masturbate for a month. No wet dreams. Dick just turned off. I'm only 30. FWB girls call me up, I just 'meh' and don't pick up.

I go to the doctor. He runs his tests. I ask him to test my T levels. He kind of chuckles and says "there's no way a guy built like you has low T levels" but added the T test to kind of humor me. A few days later I get a call "Yeah, your blood work looks fine... however your T levels did come back a little low. I'll ask you again (he asked during the physical), have you ever taken steroids?". The answer is No. Never taken steroids. "Well, there is no way someone can have your body composition with these numbers. Are you sure you're not on steroids?" "Yes, 100% I have never taken steroids". Doc doesn't want to do anything. He wants to just wait it out and keep testing. Go to a second doc. Pretty much same story.

My Total Testosterone is 221.

I'm getting another set of labs done on Friday. Regardless of the outcome my doctors are of the opinion "You're in great shape, so it doesn't seem to be causing any issues, lets check in again in 6 months". Thanks doc, I didn't like using my dick anyways. They have said they will not treat, and will take a wait and see approach. I'm making sure they get LH, FSH, and Prolactin,Complete Blood Count and Estradiol Sensitive as well as the standard T tests. Asked about getting an MRI but was shot down.

Anyone experience a massive strength drop in just a month like this? Progressively as well. Its not like I was taking a break. Each workout I just was weaker than the last. This last week I just said fuck-it and geared up. As it stands now, next week after I get my labs back I'm going to start my cycle. I'm in the "what do I have to loose" mindset. I either A) sit on my hands for 6 months, get weak, hate life, dead dick, test again, and maybe the doc will do something. B) Fix the low T problem.

With both A and B the underlying issue will not be fixed or looked into further for another 6 months. In the mean time I can try a third maybe 4th doctor before my health insurance stops paying. I've got no problem being forthright and honest with my doctors about my steroid usage.

TL;DR

Pre-TRT anyone loose 40% of their total strength in a month? If so what was it?
Total Test is 221 - Doc said he won't treat for at least 6 more months so I'm going to self medicate. If my shits already broken pre-cycle how much more could it possibly break? Maybe enough to get treatment?

Ridiculous. So you may be at the very beginning of an issue and they can help you with it but decide you look too muscular to truly have an issue so they want to wait for you to atrophy so that at some point you will look like you have a problem.

But the problem is, they think you use AAS and they dont want to have to worry about you.

When was your last cycle? How did your PCT go and did you get labs?

I've heard the same thing before. Doctors are like any other professional out there; there's more than one, some are shitty - while others are good, and you can FIRE them if they don't meet your expectations.

Move on, wear baggier clothing, don't talk about physical performance (sex is a good one to bring up), and get that fixed up the right way. Find out WHY your testosterone is low, get LH/FSH checked along all the other goodies like you mentioned.

FYI: The longer you wait, the worse things can become. You have proof of low test, which means half your battle is over.

My .02c :)

I've never cycled. Ever. Closest I came was fish oil and ZMA.

I'll wear bulkier clothing. So far both nurses had me disrobe and get into a hospital gown before the doctors ever saw me.

What type of Docs have you seen? internists, gp, urologist, etc.

I would think taking your lab work to a urologist and focusing more on your lack of libido would be the way to go. He's not going to have you strip down for a full physical. He'll just have you drop your pants for a minute while he sticks his finger up your butt and plays with your boys.

I had the same issue. I'm by no means huge, but have a decent build for someone with low T. Primary care physician refused to give me a testosterone blood test, and insisted that my fatigue and brain fog was due to depression! I told her no way I'm depressed, and asked for a testosterone test. She insisted there is no way it could be low T and I was getting caught up in big pharma marketing. I convinced her to give me a low T blood test just to rule it out. She agreed and when the results came back at 186 total T she crapped pants and sent me to an Endocrinologist. The Endo was a good guy and very genuine person but just didn't know how to deal with low T and ended up making things worse.

I found a local weight loss / anti-aging clinic - the Doc was specialized in TRT and echoed everything I've read here, so I knew I had a winner. I NEVER in a million years thought I would go to a clinic of this type, but it is working out really well. I'm very happy and will not go back to the endo.

What kind of doctor was this? I've been to a dozen endos and three GP's, and have NEVER had to disrobe except to drop my drawers for a DRE (which thankfully is no longer standard practice). This whole situation just sounds weird, unless the nurses just wanted to get a peek at a young specimen. ;)

Ya docs will do that.
Especially where T is concerned...
I've heard of docs saying: "oh you have a goatee u are not suffering from low T"....
They draw their conclusions many time on just appearance.
It's really bad. I have been in these situations as well.
I hope u get treated. Low T is no way to live.

trust me on this one...

If you havent done drugs, medicaiton, wierd supplements, stressed out, no sleep, no food ect there should be no reason to start taking TRT.
you might have run your body down with exercise and poor sleep/diet.

let go a month, peaktestosteron have great advice on how to regain high t levels if everything seems fine FSH - LH. LH and FSH might actually increase due to bad sleep - diet... Just try everything before you go strait on T

I had full blood tests and all came out quite horrible = low-mid testosteron, high cholesterol due to low T, high estrogene, and all the other symptoms along...

Im not sayin, but im just saying..

Well of course silly. If you don't sleep or eat, you die; and dead men don't need testosterone. :spin:

There are other causes out of our control by the way, but it's Friday and I want to impress everyone with my amazing sense of humor. :D

Same boat as you. Was feeling fatigue and low sex drive so i asked for a Testosterone test and came back to 300-350 after several tests. Endocrinologist looks at me and says " You have muscle and facial hair you're fine!"
I tired to explain to him I'm not fine but he's a moron.
He said he can't start TRT unless I'm under 300 and required by the endocrinologist department.

So guess I'm gonna have to juice it to get my T back up haha

Yep - that's about right. The cutoff most endo's go by is ~290. If you are above that, you'll need to see s TRT clinic as they are much interested in optimizing. When is the last time your boss at work asked you for minimal performance? never...

So what's your situation now?
Still hypogonadal?

Maybe ask your doc if he would deny treatment to a diabetic due to their physical appearance, rather than basing treatment on lab results and that pesky science stuff. If he's going to be incompetent, he should at least be consistent.
