Does anyone here press...

Does anybody here press more over their head, in terms of push press, military press, jerk et al than what they bench press?

For example, if you bench press 100kg, do you have a military press of 105?

This is somethin' i'd like to achieve. I suspect that it's a case of pressing above your head with a higher frequency than bench pressing. ie training your push press 2-3 times a week & bench pressing once.

Yeah ?

Chest muscles are larger than shoulder muscles so it would make more sense to be benching more than you can shoulder press. If you can shoulder press more than you can bench press, then your chest is weak and needs the appropriate amount of attention it requires. Chest workout also incorporates a lot of triceps. Unless you're doing snatches, shoulder press is mostly shoulders, although it is a compound movement.

"No" to your last comment/question.

And your use of "et al" is out of context lol That's more of legal writing and scholarly journal writing style.

my bench is 310-315 max, i work out with like 145 on shoulder press, i couldnt even imagine putin 315 on shoulder press...lol...crazy!

I'd say this is nearly impossible for a number of reasons that I'm too lazy to list.

But look at the world bench press charts vs. world clean and jerk chart and you'll get a better sense of percentages.

to make it easy to understand, if you milatary press 225 thats man weight but if u max your bench at that there is something very wrong with you.

bill kazmaier . has strict curled 315 for reps and he overhead pressed that much as well but i dont think he was exposed to the pee test olympic lifters are lol.

There are guys push pressing into the 400s but these are guys benching high 500s (pounds).

You'd have to ignore chest, or be genetically inferior with chest movements in a big way - this just doesn't make sense.

i guess you would also need pretty strong leg strength to have such should strength. Push pressing that amount of weight would be impossible with pencil type legs.

I shoulder press right around 225-235x2 and i bench 315x8... I would not expect to ever be able to do 315 on bench. I do 130lbs Dumbells on Flat chest and 105s on shoulders... The gym i go to only has 130s

First off, there are 3 variations to an overhead press that are important to what I am talking about, strict/military press, push/cheat press, and the jerk/split jerk.

I train in olympic lifting and strongman training, so most of my training is towards getting a really big jerk. every workout involves lifting overhead, and once a week I do a few benches.

my split jerk is 301, my push press is 280, and with my long arms, my military press is not worth mentioning.

my bench is approaching 400, since I am working on it again.

My coach does not bench regularly, and has a jerk of 360, he can bench 400 with a few warmups if he has to, even after not benching for months...

I like clean and jerks and snatches because they are more challenging. you really need bumper plates to do it right, especially since most gyms would freak out if you droppes 300 lbs from over your head... or miss, like I do on a regular basis.

i finally got past my plateu on military press i did 175 for 6 3 sets i was moderatly impressed....lol

i work out with 225 military press, and i weigh around 205-210,i do reps of 6-8 of 3 sets.and work out with bench at 315 on regular basis,i do 6-10 reps of 3 sets.
