What he said....

Everyone has a six pack hidden under his/her fat. Running will help get rid of the fat and expose them.

I read about a study once that found that the runners that continue to push themselves harder and run progressively further have smaller waists. Obviously, it comes down to bf%.

I can confirm that I was once fat and with lots of running, my waist got smaller. Then I got fat again. I need to run again, without a doubt. All my damn bf% goes to my waist. Sucks.

any type of cardio will help you lost bf hence helping to show youre six pack, i prefer the stationary bike for cardio

Low BF will give you a 6-pack

What he said. You just have to find a way to get there, and no, doing situps does not burn fat (before anyone asks since exercise was mentioned).

What WOULD be an effective for of cardio for fat loss?

Medium paced walk @ 65-70% heart rate for 45-60 minutes.

Formula to figure out heart rate:

220 - age * .65
220 - age * .70

Stay between those two numbers and you should be good. Depending on body type though, you may respond better to a slightly higher heart rate, like 75-80%. Just depends on the person

Kick ass . . .

Thxs Mate . .Thought those calculations on cardio equipment were bunk. I always heard that if you did cardio over 30 minutes it was actually doing you a diservice because your body started to shut down processing fat and actually begin storing it

Nope..... anything over an hour however is usually detrimental. Usually if you do cardio on an empty stomache in the morning, or 2-3 hours after a protein and fat meal, you wont start burning fat until the 20 minute mark. So doing cardio for 45 minutes usually gives you about 25 minutes of pure lipolysis. It can continue for a little bit after cardio too, so if you are going to eat a protein/low GI carb meal following make sure to wait another 30 minutes or so before having that meal. If you are going to have a protein and fat meal, wait 10-15 minutes then have it.

Yep.....and running is a horrible form of cardio if you are looking for fat loss.
Good 2 hear. I HATE running. I dont' like cardio of any kinda really. Walking doesn't bother me. I think I'll do that. Just how effective is that at burning fat?? You'd have to walk a hellofalot wouldn't you??

45 minutes worth of walking is a lot of walking lol....

Remember, you aren't walking per say, it is a fast pace walk. Just walking normal won't get you into your fat burning zone heart rate wise.

Sounds good to me.....I don't know the incline difference but my speed is usually 4.0 and at a good incline on the treadmill.

Most times I use an eliptical though, as I get shin splints.

Ditto on the shin splints. Good advice within this thread. Don't rely on the HR meters on the cardio machines, splurge for a more accurate one...

so doing sit-ups and ab workouts does not burn fat, so pretty much its doing no good if your body fat is high?
add weight to your ab workout. Its not that it isn't doing any good. It will help build up your abs, but you still need a low bf to see them. Keep doing ab workouts along w/other weight training. Just do more cardio and keep your calories clean ones not junk food. You'll see some major improvements. Diet is a big factor.
