Does this sound like tendonitis

Doing regular DB curls, I have zero pain.

Doing hammer curls, I get pain in my right arm. The pain is in the forearm and runs along the elbow on the outer side. The pain happens from about 1/2 way point going up.

However, I'm not getting any pain with any exercises that requires a strong grip, like rows of any kind.

I see a doctor next week (A follow-up to my knee injury) and will ask for his medical opinion. I think he'll tell me to 'take time off' the gym. I can certainly put the hammer curls off to the side, but I love them so much.

good morning..

so usually tendonitis is something you feel not only while exercising but while resting too.. its an aching pain that wont go away

if hammer curls are hurting.. skip them for a while... this doesn't sound like tendonitis to me.. but i could be wrong

I don't have an answer for you but had a similar pain. Hurt badly doing hammer curls. Hurt in bottom of bicep and top of forearm, causing elbow pain as well. Do you do pullups? Mine would absolutely kill me after only 2-3 pullups. Had to stop pullups and hammer curls.

I added a little deca un with my trt and the elbow pain went away followed by the bucep/forearm pain. Still don't do either exercise because I can still feel a sort of always there pain so I don't want to aggrevate it.

With any tendinopathy you would generally feel a little pain while at rest (usually a dull ache) in addition to the movement you're doing. I've gotten a touch of tendonitis from curls in my forearm as well. I switched my grip to more of a broken wrist style and that seemed to work.

Something that might work for you and your hammer curls would be to use a preacher curl machine that gives you the option of a hammer grip. The machine would help to ensure your wrists will stay locked in place. What may be happening is that when you're curling, your wrist might be moving up, causing the forearm to flex and tighten, which may put some extra stress on the connective tissues in the forearms.

i am experiencing the same thing. it's been a year! it was only in my left elbow. i stopped hammer curls and upright rows. the pain kind of moved from one side to the other. at one point the pain went away... almost. now i have the same pain you describe in both elbows. a doctor told me he thought it was an irritation of the radial tunnel and the radial nerve i think. sorry i don't remember which nerve.
