Ever since I was in my last years of school I was drinking often on the weekends, even now and I'm (24) I still drink alcohol on the weekends, My girlfriend thinks I'm addicted and I though drinking everyday was addicted but now I'm starting to think I'm addicted to Weekend binjing!, But now I think about it every time Friday come around 5PM I crave Alcohol then once I'm drunk I will not say no to a line of coke! YES! I no I'm such a idiot but I think it's about time I just did something else on the weekends than drink! Even if I just go out with my mates on a non drinking occasion I think about drink.

It's having an effect on my social life and training! And I'm starting to really hate it! But yet once the weekend comes I can't resist it!

Should I go see a doctor?????

I just hope some of you guys can give me some "Positive" Reply's.

Lets see, back when I was 24.....ummmmm. Ya I had the same problem!!!!!,weekend drinking would lead to coke hear and there, and then when I could not sleep......HEy! Lets hit up some weed.

But now that Im about to turn 30 and try to recollect my 20's, All I can say is "Dear liver, Hang in there little buddy till we go over the hill." I know i did a lot of damage to myself but I did not care then Because I was having sooooo much fun and lived for the weekend :)

With that said: Now I hate the hangovers!!! it used to last only couple of hours in the morning the next day and now that im 30 I feel it harder even 2 days later when Im in the gym. and have not smoked in years!!!....the only reason I decided to get serious about my well being and working out and training hard every day. That was the only motivation I needed to walk away from the party life. I mean dont get me wrong, I still love going out and hanging with my friends but I do It much more moderately now a days.

So my advice , Have fun while you are young but dont over do it brotha!!!!!!!

You no something mate I think your right!!! maybe I should be enjoying myself a little bit "lets just hope my liver can take a pounding" Well I thought maybe I was over doing it, but I know a lot of people my age that drink and take drugs day in day out and I just see them as scum! but on the weekends I may as well join them lmao! At least I'm eating good and training "through the weekdays" lol!

Drinking at the weekend is not a addiction and the doctor will say the same just try and cut down if it bothers you but drinking only at weekend wont do that much harm and remember liver repairs itsself mate

You just pretty much rationalized your drug and drinking abuse as ok, "because hey everyone else is doing it". Now, i don't know what your goals and plans are as far as health and training, but i'll tell you this: getting hammered every weekend and doing lines of coke is a serious issue in my mind. Yea, all your freinds are young and look fine now, but abuse catches up to you, whether it's alcohol, steroids, rec drugs etc. Do not fool yourself into thinking your doing absolutely no damage because everyone else around you is doing the same thing. If you can't go out and have a good time without getting smashed and doing coke, then yes, you have an addiction.

a little alcohol on saturday.....not the end of the world unless you have serious fitness/bodybuilding goals. Getting shitfaced and doing coke every weekend.....not acceptable at all imo, but hopefully you at least understand and accept the consequences of your actions.

I know it's wrong, but the coke issue is nothing, I mean I must of sniffed a few lines in the past 6 months literally, other than that it's just alcohol. Of course it's bad I've seen what alcohol can do to people.
Thanks for your reply mate Maybe I should give it up, I mean I will drink again but i think I should switch it to occasionally rather than every single weekend.

Responsible drinking solves most of the issue. Cut back how much you drink. Two beers on a Saturday night won't hurt anyone.

not an addiction

Its onyl an addiction if your taking something everyday if your only doing something at weekend then you dont have an addiction it has to be everyday. for an addict and thats how it is ask a doctor

I wouldn't categorize this as an addiction, but as being young and dumb. You'll eventually grow tired of busting your ass in the gym all week, just to lose gains by getting hammered on the weekends. I realized it was funner to stay sober, in shape and take the drunk guys girlfriends, but hey, to each his own.

i dunno i personally would try to restrain from drinking for a month.... or go out and say one drink and if u cant have one drink and u fail either test u might have a problem

i agree with this guy

If you are taking alcohol only in weekends then I don't think so it is a bad habit or you are addict of alcohol. I believe there is no need to take appointment of any doctor.

I'm not sure why people are saying its not addiction. If its effecting your life and you're thinking about it when you are not doing it, it's addiction. You addressing the issue and having self awareness is a huge step already. What do you use alcohol for? More confidence, a release, a get away, lightens you up socially, etc?? Feel like your current activity won't be fun without it? Once you look deeper into why you do it then you can work on improving yourself.

I was in the exact situation around your age. You need to make the correct decisions to make yourself happy. Whether it be drinking more (lol), less frequently, not at all or finding better activities for yourself. Wish the best of luck on your reflection inward.
