Fedor's fight

People have figured out what to do to beat Sylvia, get him on the ground.

Sylvia is still young and will be back. Once he gets a solid ground game he will be sick. With his long legs he could give a lot of people trouble in BJJ when he gets some more BJJ behind him.

I think a guy like Sylvia could really benefit by changing camps. He's been with MFS since he started and a change of scenery and coaching could be what takes Sylvia to the next level.
I question his work ethic.

I don't know bro.. he looked pretty pathetic against Fedor. Not that he's not a good fighter but it almost looked like a "lay down".. I've seen him fight off choke for nearly a round. It's almost like he took his payday and was happy w/that. Just sayin'

Apparently he wasn't being choked. It was more of a throat crush, a pain technique and quite dangerous.

Watching the fight, it looked like he got hit and slipped onto his knees. Then Fedor pounced and the rest is history.

Still young? He's 32. When do you expect him to miraculously develop this ground game thats been absent all these years? I think people have figured out his secret, and it's hit him in the face. Those gangly arms don't afford him any power on the inside. Every time sylvia takes a decent punch he loses his head. The only time he's been hit and recovered was against Arlovski the second time.

Bottom line is he's just not good. He's been exposed now. His only attribute is his size and reach. Everything else he gets beat on. He will not get back into UFC!

At least he can stick the 800 grand up his ass.

If UFC is going to keep up with Affliction then this is where they are going to have to step up. Tim Silvia a "B" Class fighter is getting that dough to fight for them. THat is the problem with UFC is they don't want to pay the fighter and then have now pension for them. At this rate affliction will have all the fighters working for them if they keep the purses at that!

Vitor= $140K?
Buentello= $80K

That is more then they ever made off a fight in the UFC. THat is big money and these guys want to get paid just like the other athletes and Dana White ain't gonna do it. That will be the downfall of UFC if there will be one. They are going to be forced to up their money to the fighters.

I agree with everything you said except classifying Sylvia as a B level fighter. He is widely regarded as a top 10 heavyweight. Obviously I'm not a fan, but I think it's wrong to mis-label him.

yeah, maybe I was a little harsh on him. MMA Weekley does have him #5 so maybe not a B level fighter but a struggling A may be more accurate.

I just wonder who they are going to feed fedor next? obviously if couture wont happen they will put him against arlovski or Barnett. Personally I love Fedor and never want him to lose. But I think he would have problems with barnetts fighting style. What fighters from the UFC have the possibility to go over to Affliction in the near future? I mean how long is a fighting contract with UFC?

Fight contracts are from 1 to ever how many Dana wants to sign you for. As far as somebody to challenge Fedor... I don't know if there is one. The heavyweight class is really struggling for some good fighters. Unlike the light heavy's and welterweight classes. You would think Nog but he walked through Nog a few yrs. back but it would be nice to see them again. I would think Orlovski but I wonder about his chin. I don't know if we'd ever see it but it may be his brother! That may be his only competition other than Couture. I doubt he'd fight his brother though. His name is Aleksander Emelianenko.
